O Pizza

Saturday, July 7th, 2007

I have figured out a way to make pizza that seems to work for me.
I use either a spelt tortilla or an Ezekial tortilla for the crust.
Saute an onion, I use a nonstick pan and a little olive oil. Add a pound or
more of ground elk, beef, lamb, or some combination thereof and a hefty
sprinkle of Italian spices. They are all neutrals for secretors.
Using a compliant pasta sauce, I like Seeds of Change brand Tomato and Basil,
spread this onto the tortilla.
Then start adding toppings. I usually use uncooked spinach, just wash and
arrange.
Red pepper diced. Sometimes zucchini when in season.
Spread some of the meat and onion mixture on. You should enough for 3 pizzas.
Sprinkle mozzarella cheese overall.
I cook this in my toaster oven, on 450 until the cheese melts.
Slice and eat! If you eat it with a salad, you can have the leftovers for
breakfast the next morning which is my favorite.

BAKED SWEET POTATO STICKS

Friday, July 6th, 2007

1/2 teaspoon paprika
8 sweet potatoes
1 tablespoon olive oil
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (205 degrees C). Spray a baking sheet with
cooking spay or vegetable oil. Wash and slice potatoes lengthwise into
quarters. In a large bowl mix together oil and paprika. Add potato sticks
and
stir by hand to coat. Place on prepared baking sheet. Bake for 40 minutes.
Best eaten at room temperature.
I also use either my madeleine (be VERY careful) or food processor to slice
sweet potatoes very thin, place them on a cookie sheet and spray with olive
oil. PAM makes one or you can get your own bottle through Pampered Chef, Bed,
Bath & Beyond etc where you add whatever oil you choose and it turns it into a
spray. Preheat the over to 400, spread the slices out one layer deep, spray,
salt or season to taste, bake, watching carefully until they turn brown and

Pumpkin seed dip recipe

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

Hello,
I hosted a Superbowl party yesterday and made everything nearly 100
percent compliant with ER for O-types. This helped my creative
cooking juices flow, and yes, I can see finding a way, to enjoy
eating and cooking more now (I was getting in a rut with eating the
same old things). I found a great dip recipe I’ve included below.
Its like, but not like hummus, tastier, I think. Ah, with red
peppers, it was great! I am not yet paying attention to secretor
status….so my apologies if there are avoids for nonnies.
Pumpkin Seed Puree/Dip
8 oz (1 ½ C) hulled, unsalted pumpkin seeds
3 T olive oil
2 garlic cloves, crushed
¾ to 1 C chicken stock
¼ C fresh lime juice

by following the book and I’m hoping more info, recipes, and support can help me
stay motivated to change my eating habits.

several questions

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

Hello,
I gave my intro a few weeks back. Thanks for the feedback. I keep
plugging along after two really compliant months on ER, then a less
compliant month, and I’m ready to get motivated again….a few
questions as I think about ER as a lifestyle change:
1) Do you still enjoy eating? Or are you all at a point of
accepting food more as fuel for the body, a necessity rather than a
pleasure?
2) Do you still enjoy cooking?
3) I need snack ideas…I love dried berries and nuts, but find that
I eat too many, and need other quick ideas…I tend to eat fewer
larger meals rather than many smaller ones/snacks as I’d like to do.
4) How important do you find drinking liquids before/after, and not
during meals? Any research on cold versus warm/hot liquids?
That will do for now,

Chew On This: 10 Foods That Boost Brainpower

Gotta love confirmation from a totally different source!

Chew On This: 10 Foods That Boost Brainpower By Special for eDiets

Crossword puzzles alone won’t save your brain and protect it from aging,
though they will help. So will the right foods. Some edibles are especially good
at protecting the brain’s delicate nerve cells and blood vessels from the
damage that accompanies aging. Most of them squelch free radicals, the renegade
oxygen molecules spun off as the brain goes about the business of the mind. Most
of the foods that are the smartest for the brain are also good for the heart,
because both rely on a steady oxygen supply. The risks for cardiovascular
disease correlate with risks for cognitive decline.
1. Blueberries
Sweet wild blueberries are bursting with antioxidants, which mop up nasty
free radicals. Studies of rats show that a blueberry-rich diet improves memory

Type O and children

Thursday, June 7th, 2007

Hi, I am wondering if the O diet is fine for children–I’m esp. concerned
about milk, and how milk is supposed to be so good for growing children, for
calcium in their bones, etc. Does anyone else here feed their young children
strictly the O diet? I just realized that if I stop buying avoids our
grocery bill will go way down, so I’m going to try this but I don’t know how
my family will adjust to it–they’re already so used to cow’s milk, bread &
PB&J sandwiches, mac & cheese, cereal, OJ, etc.
My four kids are 7, 6, 4 & 2. The youngest has allergic reactions to milk so
he is already used to drinking rice milk or rice & almond milk.
any help is appreciated–thanks!
Jerilyn
P.S. I do have a friend who has her own goats & chickens, and it may be
possible for me to acquire fresh, unpasturized goat’s milk & fresh eggs from
her, when she has excess at certain times of the year.

Need travelling tips

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007

I’ll be driving 5 hours to Houston tomorrow night. I don’t drive that long
often. Any Type O hints for long drives? I’ll have some beneficials, but
the times I’ve been on long drives I tend to get sleepy just from the drive
or need to stretch my muscles. Maybe there is nothing I can do about that,
but I thought it would worth asking. Anyone?

O and Vegetarian

Monday, June 4th, 2007

Here is an article with suggestions from Heidi on On the Diet. You can go there
by going to www.dadamo.com. You can see how to get to her column by looking in
the left hand 2nd column. I’ll see if I can still find more.

That Type O Vegetarian Thing…
QUESTION: My blood group is ‘O’ and as I am sure your aware the diet is pretty
carnivorous. However, my main problem is that I am and have been since birth a
vegetarian. I am trying to follow the diet, but was wondering if I can allow
more eggs and dairy into my diet plan to make up for the missing meat and
poultry. Many thanks for your help.
SUGGESTION: A great number of type Os come to this diet from a vegetarian
lifestyle, and wish above all to adhere to their ideals. Based upon my personal
experience and the accounts of hundreds of others, I would encourage you to
consider how much good you can do in the world if you are the healthiest person
you can be. Consider this plan from the standpoint of what we Os are
