it’s good to be back!

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007

Greetings all *waves* Hope everyone is doing okay. Most of you probably don’t
remember me because I only posted a couple of times before disappearing this
past fall. I’ve been away for a while for various reasons, some of them beyond
my control–but that’s life, yes? So it’s time to get back into the
conversation.
To be honest, over the last few months I’ve been eating wheat and too many
carbs, and feeling horrible as a result. So, as someone said in a recent email,
you can start over every morning, and I did so today. I know by the end of the
week I’ll be wondering why I ever stopped eating right in the first place.
What’s been interesting about eating carbs again is how they tend to numb me out
mentally. I think William Dufty talks about that effect in his book Sugar Blues,
though I’m not really sure the European monarchies intentionally got their
peasantry hooked on potatoes for the soporific effect, as he suggests. Then
again, regarding authority, you can never be too paranoid ;) At any rate, carbs
make me slow and stupid, and I don’t like it. So now when I’m tempted to grab a

protocols question

Monday, July 30th, 2007

Pardon me-I know the issue of protocols was covered, but I can’t
seem to find it in the archives.
I have been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. I suspect the real
issue in whole or in part is more digestive related. I know I have
an issue with systemic candidiasis. I also get allergy related
asthma in the springtime (I suspect that this may not be an issue if
I address the other two).
I am in my fourth month of ER.
Soas I read in the Blood Type Encyclopedia about protocols I see
that the protocols for
rheumatoid arthritis are:
Arthritis protocol
Chronic Illness Recovery protocol
Anti-inflammation protocol
For Candida:

Robin…about the corn syrup

Monday, July 16th, 2007

actually now that you mention it…. corn syrup is pretty scary. lol I just
tried mixing black cherry juice with seltzer and it’s pretty good. seltzer by
itself is pretty ucky though…
THe headaches are coming from my sinuses acting up. This is the first time that
my nose has cleared up but it’s still draining in my forehead, temple, and cheek
area. I’ve gotten so sensitive to different foods lately that it wouldn’t
surprise me if it’s another food. I really need to just strictly stay away from
corn and wheat and see if those are causing it too.

drinking water

ok you caught me with drinking water. lol I was doing real good, but have
slacked off lately. maybe if I can find some different flavorings water
wouldn’t get so blah to me.

anyone have any ideas on…

Thursday, July 12th, 2007

getting away from drinking rootbeer?? I stopped for awhile, but started getting
what I call “ice pick” headaches so I started drinking them again. lol I can’t
handle caffeine so it’s not that. I’ve tried drinking the decaf green tea, but
even the small amount of caffeine in that makes my face flush. I’ve also tried
the black cherry juice and peppermint tea, but I just haven’t been able to keep
drinking just those yet.

updated books

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

Thusfar, I had been using Eat Right For Your Type. I finally bought
Live Right For Your Type…I know you mentioned there were some
changes… but wow, there were more than I expected! In addition to
other changes, I am so thrilled that my beneficial fruit list
doubled, strawberries are now neutral, not an avoid, that cabbage is
now neutral not an avoid, and sorry that pinto beans now are an
avoid…and on and on
I just thought I’d mention this again to people new to the list. I
find this “new” food list is really much nicer all around!

amount of protein

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

Now I’m really confused. I have read over and over about the need
for eating high protein, and guess I have made assumptions about
that. Then I have read here about eating one gram of protein per
body weight per day.
Well, I converted 220 grams to ounces and got 8 oz. Did I do this
wrong? I eat much more than 8 ounces of protein a day. 8 oz does
not seem like a lot to me….is it that my portions must be way
off? I eat at least 4-6 ounces of protein at a time, for lunch and
dinner certainly, then add some eggs for breakfast and some protein
snacks, and now it seems like I’m eating too much protein!!! (I
guess I’ll go back to Dr D’s books and read up, I must have missed
something.)

Better than Neiman’s Salad Dressing

Monday, July 9th, 2007

This came from a low carb e-group. It’s an idea for making your own salad
dressing.
Better than Newman’s salad dressing mix
