Digest Number 1814

Sunday, August 12th, 2007

That is exactly what I did (substitute neutral grains for wheat) when I
started, including pastas. As I ate more protein and HBs and cut out avoids,
I gradually lost my desire to eat grains in any form. That method worked for
me!

Everything You Know Is Wrong

Saturday, August 11th, 2007

I enjoyed Robin’s recent post, especially the part about how
eating/exercising in tune with our bodies and our environment puts us back in
touch with our
hardwiring, and we can get our “sixth sense” back.
I too have experienced this, and I think there is another reason beyond those
Robin mentions. It is such a big step to reject everything we have been
taught about diet, nutrition and health. It is an even bigger step to be open
to
the possibility that our government, educational and medical establishments
have purposely mislead us and given us information that directly leads to most
of the health problems that exist in “civilized” society today. It is a
gargantuan step for people here who are parents to accept that these
institutions
have dispensed information that has potentially harmed their children. As part
of our socialization, we all accept and incorporate a “reality” into our

Food combining for Os

Saturday, August 11th, 2007

Hi, All!
Thought I would check to see what Dr. D himself says about food combining,
especially for Os. Here is one hit on the search. Doesn’t sound too
complicated. LOL.

Dear Alice,
The only one I stress with type O is to avoid combining meats and fish with
any of the allowed starchy vegetables in the same meal.

back from vacation

Friday, August 10th, 2007

Just got back from 11 days vacation at my Dad’s. He’s an A who was
just diagnosed with severe but almost symptomless GERD (not cancerous
yet, thank goodness). I got his girlfriend started on researching
ER4YT. I’m not doing so well, though. Ate a lot of carbs while I
was there. Lost about 8 lbs. Suffered enough motion sickness and
random dizziness to make me want to take a pregnancy test. Yeesh.
Otherwise I had a great time. It’s nice to get away for a little
while.

O protein bars- jerky recipes

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

Hi,
I am looking for portability protein sources. In the past, a nice protein
bar often gave me a boost, but my favorite is loaded with wheat bran and red
winter wheat flour.
Thanks for any pointers.
I made our own jerky ages ago (11 years or more!) in one of those Ronco or
somesuch food dehydrators. The dehydrator has long since been donated or
garage sold.
Thanks for sources and recipes.

2nd attempt to remove doubt!!

Monday, August 6th, 2007

Annie, I hope this gets through! Here is my original post, from Feb. 21. I
was responding to Christine, who had expressed difficulty in moving forward
with the Eat Right principles, when she continued to have doubts and questions:
Dr. D’Adamo continues his research, so all questions are not answered.
Ultimately, every point of view, whether it is dietary, religious, political,
etc.,
can put forward a solid case on paper. If we decide to never take action
till all questions are answered, then we never step out of our world. The
essence of making a change is taking a risk.
I had tried many ways of eating to be healthy. All had logical premises, and
none worked. When a friend told me about ER4YT, I was conflicted. On the
one hand, it sounded logical, based on evolution and endocrinology. On the
other hand, in the book, I found the explanation to be based more on conjecture,
anecdote and extrapolation than I would expect in a scientific investigation.
Still, when I looked at the diet, which proscribed meat and vegetables, I

Christine, I am so happy that this post helped you, and thank you for letting
us know.
Annie, here is the original post she referred to.

Thanks for posting the recipe. I get lots of zucchini and yellow squash this
summer, so I am always looking for O-friendly recipes for them. This one
sounds great!

getting Dr. D’s books

Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

A friend just told me that she came across some website with the top 10
diets, and the Blood Type Diet is on the list. After years of being called a
“quack”, Dr. D’Adamo is finally gaining acceptance, and people are taking him
seriously. I noticed one of our newbies had the Blood Type books on hold at her
library, and this made me think, if people are finally listening to this man, it
may be hard to get his books.
Another possibility, that I frequently use, is to go to amazon.com, and look
up the books. Their listing will indicate a link to used copies of the books
you want. Often, the used books are selling for as little as $3-5 per copy.
The listing will indicate the condition of the book, and there are also links
to online ratings for each seller, so you can check and be sure other people
who bought from them didn’t have problems getting their merchandise in a timely
fashion, and also consistency in the actual condition of the goods matching
the advertisement.
Another thought: keep in mind that as Dr. D. continues his research, he
