chili with chocolate recipes

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

Pam, thanks for posting those recipes! That will give me a base to work
from, while I test. I see most of the recipes call for tomatoes, and my
friend’s
recipe didn’t have that. One of the reasons I liked her chili so much was
that she served it to me when I had just started the Blood Type Diet, and the
first book, Eat Right, said tomatoes are an avoid. I notice other ingredients
in
there, like cheese, that she didn’t include either. I suspect I can come up
with a good facsimile of her recipe just by omitting the avoids. She wouldn’t
tell me the exact recipe, but when I rattled off the avoids, she would
confirm they were not in there.
Thanks again for these terrific recipes!!!!!

in search of the holy fat…

Monday, August 20th, 2007

Greetings fello O’s,
I have been deep in the throws of research and experimentation lately, with
myself as the willing guinea pig (and my pug…who also seems to enjoy the
adventure), and I have briefly returned to report on my quest. I seem to have
stumbled upon the holy grail of nutrition or at least, something that is working
very well for me….so far. After much-a-do about the chemistry of fats and
carbs and proteins as to how they make or break our health, I saw the wisdom in
and decided to increase my ratio of fat consumption, decrease my carbs and make
sure my protein was optimal. The results have been fantastic!…. By increasing
my animal fats (good free range, organic saturated fats) substantially, my sugar
cravings decreased almost entirely; I was able to quit my sugar addiction
relatively easily. My digestive problems (fussy for years) have decreased most
dramatically and I feel great! I have not gained any weight, in fact I have lost
some weight (I am not overweight) and my joints are beginning to improve with
regard to the the snap, crackle and pop that has plaque them for so long…. Yah

trustworthy tuna?

Sunday, August 19th, 2007

Last month, someone posted about a kind of canned tuna that doesn’t
have the mercury problems of standard tuna because the fish were
either lower on the food chain or just younger and therefore not
eating the larger contaminated fish. I can’t find that post now.
can anyone help me out?

Holy Crap,
Axel, why circumcision? Medical problem or cosmetic?
How is the sexual sensation after the cut?
Curious about what your foreskin was like in terms of appearance. I have
three boys all uncut- each with a very different FS. ONe almost looks
circed, the next has a nice tassle of a FS, and the baby had a perfect
little jalepenis (like a pepper.) huuby was cut as baby. My kids think
penises are like noses- everyone had different one- there is no uniformity.
Thanks for a reply,
Joy

Still looking for jerky recipes and dehydrator reccomendations

Calling for Jerky recipes please.
Anyone do grassfed beef as jerky before? It is so stinnking lean, but so
much better and almost free for us living on the ranch.
Thanks for input.

Kids and “new” foods/nutritionist and a little about me

Friday, August 17th, 2007

Robin wrote:”As for the two little ones not eating their veggies, I’m
inclined to
say it’s a phase they will grow out of so just keep offering and
don’t force them to eat anything”
You are so correct.
****One great therapist said that the “average” kid might take as many as 40
times of offereing a new food before trying it and liking it.*****
I watch a 9 year old classmate of my kids a few days a week, and his way of
eating is very different from ours. Many times, he would say he was not
hungry at dinner or “I don’t like that kind of____” I would tell him that
when he wanted to try it, he could if any was left. More often than not, he
would come around to table, take a seat, and eat like the rest of us!
My last child was born with an internal defect which made for a long road to
“oral” eating. Therefore, I have spent plenty of time with feeding
specialists, OT, ST, and other pros who deal with kids and food. I noticed

New member. What to feed my kids??

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

Hi, I have been lurking here for about a month now and thought I
would introduce myself. I am a stay at home mom of two kids ages 2
and 5. Everyone in the family is an O but I don’t know secretor
status except for myself from a forensic biology class I took in
college. I am a non-secretor. I have been trying to follow the
diet and am about 60% compliant right now. The problem is that I
hate veggies! I am getting better and will eat broccoli, spinach
and asparagus. I have no clue how to cook most veggies and my 2
year old will only eat corn and carrots. I figure if I keep feeding
the good stuff, eventually they might eat it but I don’t know.
Their main favorites are all the bad stuff - mac and cheese, peanut
butter and jelly sandwiches, lentils and couscous, crackers,
waffles, cereal, you get the idea. What kinds of things should I
feed them for meals, esp. breakfast when everything they associate
with breakfast is wheat based?

rice and constipation

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

Someone posted a message about rice and rice cakes, and seemed surprised
these foods caused them to be constipated. I recall that many doctors prescribe
the “B.R.A.T.” diet to cure diarrhea. Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast. These
foods are supposed to clog you up. Don’t know the reason why, but apparently
rice is well-known for this property.
Please keep in mind, even the “neutral” grains are not that helpful to us.
They are only neutral because they do not ravage our digestive and immune
systems as wheat and corn do. However, the absence of harm does not mean they
are
helpful. They don’t help us at all. Dr. D’Adamo points out the neutral
grains because he knows sometimes we all just really want a carb or a grain.
So,
then have a neutral. You will still suffer some discomfort, but at least you
won’t be attacking your body with something truly dangerous. On the other
hand, don’t expect the neutral grains to make you feel great either.

identity of chili recipe poster

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

That was me, not Max, who referred to a friend who makes a killer chili with
broth, beef, and a bit of bitter chocolate. She WILL NOT share the recipe,
and WILL NOT let me watch her make it. She’s one of my more eccentric friends,
and she just won’t let anyone in on her family recipe.
As so many seem interested, I will go back to the test kitchen, and see if I
can replicate. Give me a few weeks folks. If I can come up with a decent
facsimile, I’ll post the recipe.

Digest Number 1815

I should add that I was *very* strict about not eating avoids, and I did
limit myself to two smallish portions of grainy foods per day (a portion for
me was 1 slice of Ez. bread, 1 rice cake, or a smallish portion of cooked
rice or neutral pasta). I was also very careful to have protein at every
meal and to always have a protein snack with me. Since I’m O-negative
(needing even more protein than O-pos.), the nutritionist who recommended
the BTD to me told me I should eat something with protein every 2 hours,
even it was just a small snack. My metabolism changed virtually overnight. I
remember going to the grocery store one evening and buying a rotisserie
chicken along with some other stuff. On the way home, I was without a snack
and suddenly was overcome with a need for protein. I had to pull over and
open the chicken package and start eating it with my bare hands! I was
really wolfing it down! As far as the grains go, I currently have an ancient
partial loaf of Ezekiel bread in the freezer; I was occasionally using one
slice at a time to add to meatloaf or meatballs, but now I have used a
