where to find organic, grass-fed beef

If there are local butcher shops in your area, go see them. They often do
have organic, grass-fed beef. If they don’t normally carry it, they can usually
order it. This goes for range-fed veal, lamb, chicken, even organic sausages
and eggs.
Also shop around on-line. Most of the on-line providers are expensive,
however they do have special sales that can be economical. They ship the meat
in a
styrofoam cooler filled with dry ice. We have ordered a few times like this,
and the meat always arrives in the “deep freeze”, so it is safe.
I didn’t know Safeway was carrying such things these days. I do know that
Raley’s carries a few lines of organic beef. Don’t know if they’re grass-fed,
but at least they don’t have all the chemicals.
Be sure to ASK, ASK, ASK. The grocery stores are notorious for mis-leading
labelling. I had been buying “Fresh Atlantic Salmon” at Albertson’s. One day
when I went in, it was sold out, and they only had “Pacific Farm-Raised

Salmon”. I wouldn’t buy it, because fish farming, like other corporate
agriculture
ventures, uses fake foods, chemicals, and dyes to color the fish meat the
“right” color. Well, the person on duty first checked to be sure no one was
around to overhear him, then explained to me that the fish is all farm-raised.
He
said “Fresh Atlantic Salmon” just means it was shipped fresh from a farm on
the Atlantic. It is labelled in that way, because the marketing people know
that lots of consumers want fresh salmon, not farmed. Rather than provide that,
they just label their crap misleadingly. He then proceeded to point out to me
which fish were from the ocean, and which were from a farm. They did
actually have several types of fish, all beneficial or neutral for me, that were
from
the sea, and that is what I purchased. So: if you want the right answers,
be sure you ask the right questions!!!!!!

fwiw: “Atlantic salmon” is the species and most always raised at farms, even if
they come from the Pacific coast…..

How do you know they’re not just giving you the regular stuff and pocketing
the difference? I mean, it isn’t orange or anything. Are there any
recognizable differences as far as texture, taste, etc? It is very hard to get
    good
meat here because we’re so close to the coast and most people opt for fish and
other seafood. The meat is of a lower quality.
