Digest Number 1815

I should add that I was *very* strict about not eating avoids, and I did
limit myself to two smallish portions of grainy foods per day (a portion for
me was 1 slice of Ez. bread, 1 rice cake, or a smallish portion of cooked
rice or neutral pasta). I was also very careful to have protein at every
meal and to always have a protein snack with me. Since I’m O-negative
(needing even more protein than O-pos.), the nutritionist who recommended
the BTD to me told me I should eat something with protein every 2 hours,
even it was just a small snack. My metabolism changed virtually overnight. I
remember going to the grocery store one evening and buying a rotisserie
chicken along with some other stuff. On the way home, I was without a snack
and suddenly was overcome with a need for protein. I had to pull over and
open the chicken package and start eating it with my bare hands! I was
really wolfing it down! As far as the grains go, I currently have an ancient
partial loaf of Ezekiel bread in the freezer; I was occasionally using one
slice at a time to add to meatloaf or meatballs, but now I have used a

couple of recipes instead that don’t call for breadcrumbs. Will probably end
up throwing out the bread. Also came across an ancient rice cake the other
day in my pantry and threw it out. I just don’t even think of eating these
things anymore. However, from what I’ve been reading on this list, I can see
that I need to up my daily protein intake even more by having bigger
portions of meat at meals.

hi O’s.. the discussion on grains/starches and inflammation is fascinating.
my husb. suffers from a form of arthritis (A.S) and I’ve always been
suspicious that diet causes the inflammation… is this the pattern: say we
    eat
wheat and the lectins agglutinate in different areas in our body and create
inflammation OR is it that we eat the wheat and the lectins seep into our
intestines creating the leaky gut and then these toxins run around in the body
creating inflammation? if lectin damage creates the inflammation that creates
an arthritic condition and other diseases that’s a clear cut reason to stay
    100% on ER !!
biggest challenge I face on a daily basis is staying away from dark chocolate
(I could eat it all day long) and those darn decaf soy lattes… I think
caffeine is an issue for me…tires me out as the day goes on… otherwise
pretty O compliant! thanks for listening! Leslie thomas.. your day sounds
like my dream day re: your energy and how you feel sleeping… awesome.

If you eat enough protein and fat, the last thing you’ll be is constipated.
