cravings for avoids

It was in Atkins’s “New Diet Revolution” that he spoke of substances that the
body experiences an allergic reaction to that may be addictive, regardless of
their undesirable effects in the body. Part of this is because of our own body’s
response to the offending compounds. Dairy and wheat cause us to release a
morphine-like substance, it is thought that our own (endogenous) secreted
hormones cause this addiction response. IOW, we can become “hooked” on our
bodies *response* to a compound in the offending food, not necessarily the food
itself.

So you’re saying that this is not unlike the addiction response to tobacco,
alcohol, or drugs only milder? Although I will say that the first time I
successfully weaned off of carbs, I had to throw out anything with carbs,
    imprison
myself in my house and avoid the grocery store for 2 weeks. I was even afraid
to kiss anybody who’d been eating carbs.–LOL.
