anyone have any ideas on…

getting away from drinking rootbeer?? I stopped for awhile, but started getting
what I call “ice pick” headaches so I started drinking them again. lol I can’t
handle caffeine so it’s not that. I’ve tried drinking the decaf green tea, but
even the small amount of caffeine in that makes my face flush. I’ve also tried
the black cherry juice and peppermint tea, but I just haven’t been able to keep
drinking just those yet.

If you drink enough water, to meet our human needs for water consumption,
(which for me is) an amount where I am forcing yourself to drink it, I find
I am not ever be thirsty and will not want to drink anything else. I bet
this would be the case for your root beer. I bet you were reacting (with
headaches) to stopping the sugar? I assume you were drinking sugar-root
    beer?

Here’s the ginger ale recipe again
    2 cups sugar
    1 cup water
    1/2 cup sliced ginger
    10 cups soda water
    Ice cubes
Combine sugar, water, and ginger in large saucepan. Bring to a
boil over medium heat and stir until sugar dissolves. Once sugar
dissolves, remove from the heat and let stand until cool. Strain
    through a fine sieve.
In a large pitcher, combine the cooled ginger syrup with the soda
    water. Stir to combine.
Note: For individual serving, combine 2 tablespoons of syrup and
a little over 1/2 cup of soda water.

actually this time I couldn’t tell whether it was sugar withdrawls or b/c of
    the sinusitis I’ve had lately.

Wanted to chime in that one of my children really reacts to corn syrup. It
is everywhere now, even in Hershey’s syrup. Many items that used to have
plain old sugar are now corn syrup. I notice behavior issues, hyperactivity,
and downright aggression and rudeness. He is 3.5 years old. When not on the
corn syrup, he is an angel. We have issues when at other peoples houses, or
children’s parties and such where they serve drinks with it. At home my kids
drink only water and plain seltzer. It is hard to force a child to drink
water when the other 10 kids are all having a juice box lemonade or some
other such garbage drink. At our own parties I offer children only water.
The ones who insist on sweet drinks have to tough it out! What a meanie I
am! At other people’s houses, I give in then we pay later. I shudder to
think how many kids lives are negatively altered due to bad behaviors from
foods or drinks (abused by parents as a result of their misbehavior). Also
    mis-diagnosis of ADD, etc.
Why the majority of our society (including MDs) refuses to see food as

really acting on our bodies as a drug or at least as a mood changer is
beyond me. Especially for toddlers and young children, whose body weight is
so low (compared to ours), these foods and chemicals can really affect
    them…
