Q’s on greens recipe

Leslie, you are probably speaking for many people on this group when you ask
about pineapple juice and honey. I do not follow food combining, as mostly I
eat only meat and green veggies, so I don’t need to worry about the other
stuff and when to eat it. I do eat raw fruit, and I do eat that separately from
my meals.
As for pineapple juice, and if those who follow food combining should not add
it to the meal, I just can’t say. I do not have that knowledge. I prepared
the recipe as best I could for this group, which is BTD-specific. I suppose
those who follow additional restrictions will have to check my recipe against
their own guidelines.
That is a good question, if heating honey would destroy it’s nutritional
properties. Again, I don’t know. I did prepare the recipe a few times with
honey
(the original recipes called for quite a bit of sugar). However, I knew that
the non-secretors can’t have the honey, so I didn’t think it was a good idea

to post the recipe with only honey as an option. You may be right, that an
additional concern would be what happens to cooked honey. To me, a sweet juice
was the best substitute I could imagine for sugar or honey. It may be that
the recipe would taste just fine without sweetener at all. I didn’t try it that
way, but it seems there are enough strong flavors in there, that it would be
worth a try for those who do follow food combining, and those who either don’t
eat honey or wish to avoid cooking it.
I made the recipe about 10 times. The fun (to me, at least) of cooking is
that any recipe has hundreds or even thousands of possible interpretations,
based on the cooks’ preferences, needs and availability of local ingredients.
So,
I tested as far down the road as I could for myself and what I thought might
be the bulk of the list, but after that, there are surely many, many
additional possibilities. Hopefully you will think of some, give them a try,
and post
the recipes for us if they work out!
