Fast food breadless meat

Sunday, May 27th, 2007

Hi, All!
As a celiac, I can’t allow bread to touch my meat, but I have found that
eating at fast food restaurants isn’t as dicey as you might think. I just
ask for the hamburger patty with no bun and all the veggies that normally
goes with it. I order a garden salad with no croutons, and I’m good to
go. When I did this at a McDonald’s years ago, I got blank looks from the
help. But now, with Atkins and other low-carb diets, they don’t give my
request a second thought. IMHO, Wendy’s has the best meat–way ahead of
Mickey D’s and Burger King. (Ooooh, let’s start the burger wars. LOL.)

Don,
I’ve put in a request on my other list for permission to share sweet potato
brownies. I’m sure someone will offer their version up! Let me know if you
find the flour on the internet. The only place I could find, I think you had
to be diagnosed as celiac for them to sell to you.
Linda,
One of my favorite breakfasts is an egg scrambled over leftover ground beef
sauteed the night before with onion, garlic, and other favorite spices and
veggies. I’ll often do an italian version with basil, parsley, rosemary, and
thyme as the spices, and spice pretty heavily to get a taste somewhat like
italian sausage. Of course sea salt and fresh ground pepper. Anyway,
something like that, basically an omelette with beef in it, may be a way to
ease into meat in the mornings. Which I highly recommend! I feel soooo good
when I eat meat or fish in the mornings.
I also rely heavily on walnuts, pumpkin seeds, and almond butter for

Welcome and congratulations for giving the Blood Type diet a try. Five years
ago, when I turned 40, I also noticed a sudden onslaught of physical
problems. I also noticed that long-time issues with manic/depressive moods were
suddenly much worse. This diet has worked for me very well, and I look and feel
healthier than I ever have since a very young age. At 40, most people thought I
was 40. Now, at 45, I am often mistaken for 35, or even younger. I’m not
saying the point of a healthy diet is too “look young” or “be thin”, rather, I’m
just making a point about the changes to my skin, hair, and overall physique.
I am truly radiant with good health and energy, and most people just don’t
associate that with a woman over 40.
We have talked a lot here about breakfast and snacks. It has been
problematic for most people. My most frequent solution is to make extra dinner,
and
then eat leftovers for breakfast and snacks. Otherwise, my snacks and
breakfasts

Look At This!

I would if it could. Sure you have the right address?

Axel, great links!
Tom, fava beans are listed as avoid for non-secretors on TYPEbase ~ does the
book address this seeming inconsistency for non-secretors? maybe fava beans are
only good for secretors?
Coryn, just FYI, green beans (and peas) are considered from the bean category
not from the vegetable category, if you look at ratios. My favorite way to eat
greens is called blanching. Basically dipping them into boiling water for a few
seconds until they turn bright green. You can leave them in a bit longer (up to
a minute or two) if you want them less crunchy, more soft/wilted. Blanching
removes the “bitter” taste. Then they can be cooked additionally if you want
additional flavoring. I like them more crunchy and use them as salad greens. I
notice that I want more protein (and food in general) right before and during
my period as well! I also wanted to send support and encouragement with working
through the anxiety attacks while exercising. Exercise stressed me out
emotionally for a long time, still does sometimes. I gained weight (120lbs) for

Snack and breakfast ideas

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

Hi! Thought I’d introduce myself and then ask for some ideas.
I turned 40 this year and, as some predicted, my body started “falling
apart” — just weird things, including gum/tongue problems, increased
allergies, sleeping challenges, weight gain, etc… To try to reclaim
my body, I decided that something has to happen and the ER4YT diet
really seemed to make sense. So, I started slowly about a week ago,
just to see how major a lifestyle change this would be… MAJOR! I
didn’t realize that wheat and corn (usually with sugar and often laced
with MSG) had pretty well taken over my diet. Right now I’m aiming for
an initial 90% compliance — focusing on removing wheat, corn, dairy,
MSG, aspartame and then trying to increase the beneficials. I’ve cut
down from 1 cup of coffee in the morning to 1/2 before going “cold
turkey” …
My challenge is what to do for protein snacks/lunch on-the-run and
breakfast (at home).

Mad Cow Disease Myth

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

I just got Dr. D’s new book on Cancer in the mail Friday. It’s an excellent
read. I’d recommend it for everyone if you can afford it.
One of the new foods that is a Super-Beneficial (new category for cancer
protocols) for Type O’s is the Fava Bean. I bought a can of them at Whole
Foods Saturday. They are huge beans (about the size of your thumb) and to
me taste more like a pea than a bean. I had them with some brown rice and
turmeric. They have a lectin that promotes cell differentiation which is a
good preventative for cancer. Some Fava beans also apparently have a larger
than normal amount of L-Dopa. I do feel better after having two servings of
them over the last two days.
Just thought I’d promote the book a little :-) It also gave me several
suggestions I discussed with my dad this morning. He has Prostate Cancer
and its nice to have some very practical things to offer him. He is very
open to them, another blessing.

Max,
Actually, I have a friend who makes “chili” using only steak, broth, a few
herbs, and a bit of bitter chocolate. It is heavenly! And NO she will not
share the recipe!

You peel it and eat raw or sliced thinly in salad, or, the way I like it best,
boiled and creamed. I raise them in my garden in the summer and freeze as many
as I can. They are great in vegetable soup too.
