welcome Linda
Welcome and congratulations for giving the Blood Type diet a try. Five years
ago, when I turned 40, I also noticed a sudden onslaught of physical
problems. I also noticed that long-time issues with manic/depressive moods were
suddenly much worse. This diet has worked for me very well, and I look and feel
healthier than I ever have since a very young age. At 40, most people thought I
was 40. Now, at 45, I am often mistaken for 35, or even younger. I’m not
saying the point of a healthy diet is too “look young” or “be thin”, rather, I’m
just making a point about the changes to my skin, hair, and overall physique.
I am truly radiant with good health and energy, and most people just don’t
associate that with a woman over 40.
We have talked a lot here about breakfast and snacks. It has been
problematic for most people. My most frequent solution is to make extra dinner,
and
then eat leftovers for breakfast and snacks. Otherwise, my snacks and
breakfasts
are eggs and/or oatmeal and/or nuts & fruit. If you have always eaten
traditional breakfast foods, you may be surprised at eating dinner foods in the
morning. I found what we eat at certain times is just a matter of habit. New
habits can be established. There is no “health” or scientific benefit to eating
certain foods only at certain meals, that’s for sure.
If you like sausage, please be advised that pork is an avoid. It’s pretty
easy to find other sausages. Between the grocery store and the local butcher, I
can usually find beef, chicken, turkey, duck and lamb sausage.
Although our friend Max is usually all over the ER info, I will dispute his
statement about pork. It is NOT an avoid because of parasites. I believe
Christine was correct in responding that trichinella and other parasites have
been
eradicated. Thomas once answered a question for me about pork being an
avoid, and the reason had to do with the immune system agents of pork are too
similar to the human, and eating pork will mess up our immune system. Sorry for
the only half-remembered answer, but I think you’ll get the point. It is
possible for a meat protein source to be an avoid, based on the way it interacts
with our body chemistry. I do eat pork occasionally. I happen to love it, I
just keep it to once or twice a month, as a treat.
Just one other bit of advice. You have really done your homework, and it’s
great to see that you are already following this to 90% compliance and feeling
better. Careful with the “beneficial” and “neutral” carbs, if you are
concerned about your weight. If you are comfortable with your weight, and just
substituting the good carbs for the same amount of wheat and corn you ate
formerly,
you should be fine. But, if you started this way of eating with any thought
to lose weight, then be aware that it will be hard to do that if you eat
carbs.
Linda, stay in touch with our group and keep us up to date on your progress!
Good luck!!!

In high school I used to spend the night with a Philipino friend, and it is
their tradition to eat last night’s supper for breakfast the next day. The
food was always so delicious and it tasted just as good or better the next
morning. (They cooked pretty fancy dishes the nights I stayed over–I have
no idea if they cook like that all the time.)
