Axel, great links!
Tom, fava beans are listed as avoid for non-secretors on TYPEbase ~ does the
book address this seeming inconsistency for non-secretors? maybe fava beans are
only good for secretors?
Coryn, just FYI, green beans (and peas) are considered from the bean category
not from the vegetable category, if you look at ratios. My favorite way to eat
greens is called blanching. Basically dipping them into boiling water for a few
seconds until they turn bright green. You can leave them in a bit longer (up to
a minute or two) if you want them less crunchy, more soft/wilted. Blanching
removes the “bitter” taste. Then they can be cooked additionally if you want
additional flavoring. I like them more crunchy and use them as salad greens. I
notice that I want more protein (and food in general) right before and during
my period as well! I also wanted to send support and encouragement with working
through the anxiety attacks while exercising. Exercise stressed me out
emotionally for a long time, still does sometimes. I gained weight (120lbs) for
many emotional reasons including that in high school I had an eating disorder
and exercised in order to make my body as small as possible. I experienced
feelings of hatred of my body while exercising. When I realized what I was
doing I quit exercising entirely, because I didn’t want to experience those
feelings of hatred. Now when I exercise, I usually feel pleased with my body,
but I still get afraid of becoming too small and feeling vulnerable because of
being smaller and more attractive. (I have childhood sexual abuse in my
history). Thanks for your thoughtful post, and I really wish you the best as
you move towards more exercise. BTW, you sound like you’re doing pretty well
overall.
Cheers, all,
Paulita
