Food Addiction

I saw an article in the paper several weeks ago about a new
book “Breaking the Food Seduction: The Hidden Reasons Behind Food
Cravings and 7 Steps to End Them Naturally” by Dr. Neal Barnard,
adjunct professor at the George Washington School of Medicine and
founder of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, which
promotes preventative medicine through good nutrition.
The point I wanted to relay was that it said that food addicitons can
be conquered because the taste buds can only remember for three
weeks. Avoid the trigger food for three weeks and you will lose your
taste for it.
Those of us that have eliminated wheat, sweets, or other problem
foods from our diet probably already know this. However, I thought
it was possibly useful confirming information for us when talking to
others about the the possibility of trying the BTD. If they give the
BTD an honest month’s try the cravings/addictions will be gone and

they probably won’t want to go back.
