chili/chile & basic Texas chili recipe

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

Hello, fellow Os!
Just wanted to share some information from my local newspaper about a food
ingredient that’s been brought up lately. The New World’s hottest fruit:
chiles!
Chiles are the fruits, chili is the final dish made from meat, chiles &
sometimes beans. We… er, *I* often see chili recipes made with the acidic
fruit tomato.
Most Texans feel that “real” chili is made with meat & chiles, without beans. As
time progressed chili recipies diversified, including such animals as
alligators, aardvarks, armadillos, venison, boar, kangaroo, moose, chicken, &
turkey. Chili doesn’t traditionally use ground meat, but coarsely chopped meat.
It’s got to have chiles in it, though.
Example recipe:

2 pounds lean stew beef

Thanks guys,, re: the errors in encyclopedia… and you think the high
lectin count of halibut, flounder, tomatoes, sesame, banana, carrot and apples
are
blood type specific? hope so! Leslie

PLEASE…Can anyone “trim” their posts??!

Friday, March 30th, 2007

Hi group!
I’m celebrating 2+ years on ER4YT and currently cruising the Caribbean until
June 2004.
The good news is there’s PLENTY of delicious fresh fish and some really
interesting local veggies that are making me happy.
The BAD news is that we download our emails by expensive and SLOW sat phone
connection. The daily ER4YT weighs in at about 60KB (8 minutes to load)
because nobody has been trimming the old message/ads from post answers.
If a few of you could take a moment to trim, I will be able to continue
receiving daily bulletins. If not, I will sadly say adios until June
2004…and will try to be compliant on my own, missing al of you!
Thanks!!
Merrill

Does it mean anything if I feel a bloating of an area at the base of my
right rib cage after I eat. One person at work has noticed my skin seeming
a bit yellow, but I think it’s just the enormous amount of beta carotene I
get from the greens and carrots I eat each day. I also had oil droplets in
my stool last night (sorry not a pleasant reference I know) and I know this
has happened maybe two other times, but always spaced several months apart.
It sounds to me like either pancreas, liver or gall bladder. My health
otherwise is pretty good though I have had more stress at work and almost no
exercise in a few weeks. The work has been especially stressful the last
few days.
The bloating is something I have felt maybe 70% of the time after meals for
the last 6 months or so. It’s not painful, but almost like something is
building up, but can’t be released or relieved as quick.
I know you all aren’t doctors, but I have a great respect for your insight.
I’m not panicked (even if I should be ;-) ) but I do know I need to get back

more avoids??

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

Hey O’s … sorry to be sending more questions that answers!… Latest
question: Page 348 in the Encyclopedia - discussing lectins says O’s should
avoid walnuts and eggplant. Also Rh - (which I am) should avoid blueberries,
bananas and papayas. and page 345 tells about foods that have substantial
lectin activity like halibut, flounder, tomato, lettuce, sesame, carrots,
apples. So, I’m thinking, yikes,, should we remove these from our diet too?
I’m particularly curious about the walnuts romaine lettuce and halibut
since they’re supposed to be an HB ! Thanks for any input! Leslie

Enjoy ice cream, but get bloating and gas? Here’s my secret.

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

Hi everyone!
I found this group while browsing and lurking. I thought: this
blood type 0 and Eat Right 4 Your Type plan! This is perfect for me!
One thing I love about the Eat 4 Your Type is that what the author
recommends to eat and what to avoid has helped me wonderfully!
I must confess, I do like to cheat in the form of ice cream. I
*love* the stuff! But it does *not* love me at all! So I tried soy
ice cream. That’s pretty good-if you can afford the $3.99/quart
price tag!
So now what I do is take a lactase pill (or two, if my stomach is
fussing) before I have ice cream and no bloating and no gas!
I buy my lactase pills at Kroger-60 pills for about $6.00. Not
bad. Or you could get Wal-Mart’s Equate brand for abut $7.00.
If you love ice cream like I do-then problem solved! (hopefully)

Alcohol

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

Or rather cooking with alcohol. Is it still an avoid since it
burns off? I have all these recipes that ask for a cup of wine,
or beer (brauts - and yes, they are chicken or turkey), or even
tequila (tequila lime chicken anyone?)

Important Information about Canadian Pharmacy Savings

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

by Risa Levovsky
www.alzheimers-tips.com
Why has the concept of saving money via Canadian Pharmacies spread
so rapidly in the United States?
Word of mouth is a powerful tool in our lives. Satisfied customers
tell their friends and relatives about their cost saving experience.
Hence, the snow ball effect occurs rapidly.
Is it really legal for Canadian Pharmacies to provide prescriptions
to Americans?
Yes, it is completely legal for any U.S. citizen to import up to a
90- day
supply of medications for their own personal use from Canada.
Canadian medications are F.D.A approved, sealed in the original
packaging, and contain the manufacturers seal on the package, which
meets the FDA’s requirement for the shipment of drugs.
