A little thing

Thursday, February 15th, 2007

I’ve been having a little facial tic just on the outside and under my left
eye on and off for the last three weeks. It comes and goes throughout the
day. Any ideas if it may demonstrate a deficiency of some sort? I haven’t
changed my routine other than drinking more mineral water than usual and a
different brand (San Pellegrino instead of Gerolsteiners).

lactaid and soy

Thursday, February 15th, 2007

I am hypothyroid, so soy is out of the question for me. What are the substitutes
I can use. I use lactaid for milk and I cant tell the difference, but I only use
it in cereals, or mash potatoes for my husband.

What does that mean?

? for Thomas - Confused about soy usage

Wednesday, February 14th, 2007

Thomas
Maybe it is because summer is now over and my brain is fried, but I
am confused!! Friends would say “what else is new”!!
What is, in your opinion, the definitive answer on Soy usage for
O’s? Could we, should we in small or great quantities…
and is miso not soy?
Thanks for helping as you always do so patiently.

New Member, Hello

Sunday, February 11th, 2007

Welcome to the group Allison.
Yes many of us have stories of a similar nature for sure, so we can
all understand how wonderful this feels. Annoying on occasion, i.e.
when eating out, and others don’t understand or are not willing to
just serve you what you asked for…period!!
My husband used to call me the pasta queen, and even with the first
name of Toni, I am english born now living in Canada! But I found
that I can still feed my desire for spaghetti sometimes.
There are several great brown rice pastas available for those Italian
dishes. I manage a Health & Wellness department for a large
supermarket, and will check on Tuesday where our pastas are made. It
would be funny if the majority are canadian made, when an above
average number of the products originate in the US!
Enjoy back-to-school everyone!!

followup on flaxseed question

Sunday, February 11th, 2007

Thomas,
thank you for the advice that flaxseed and the omega 3 fatty acids should not
be heated. Now, given that we already toasted them, have we merely
neutralized the omega 3’s, or have we actually created a mutation that is bad
for us?
Basically, I’m trying to figure out if we can eat this stuff now.
Thanks…..

Good to hear Denise, shows how those avoid dairy products affect our sinuses.

question on toasting flaxseed

Saturday, February 10th, 2007

Hey there flaxseed aficionados!
My sister-in-law just lightly toasted an entire bag of flaxseeds, and then
someone told us that heating flaxseed destroys the Omega 3 fatty acids. We have
been web surfing but are unable to find info on this.
Can anyone here give us advice? Thanks!
