Goat milk yogurt

Saturday, January 20th, 2007

Leslie says she doesn’t want to eat goat’s milk yogurt and wishes
cow’s milk was not an avoid.
I thought ALL yogurt was an avoid for Os. I was drinking raw goat’s
milk until this WOE, then switched to making yogurt of it, draining
the whey and eating the cheese (smooth, creamy and very delicious).
I then realized the food list says NO yogurt so I have been trying
to figure out how to make cottage cheese.
Please say I was wrong, Leslie is correct, and I can go on making
yogurt because I know how to do that. Thanks, Pat

Thomas - Vanilla

Saturday, January 20th, 2007

Thomas,
Since you clearly seem to be the resident expert here, can I ask you
about vanilla… it’s on the “avoid” list for O’s, as I know you
know. I’ve been looking at soy milk and soygurt, and even soy based
ice cream… I really love vanilla. Can you explain to me why it is
an “avoid” and how concerned I really should be about it.
Thanks!
Arlene

Soy Yogurt

Friday, January 19th, 2007

Hi everyone!
Although a Ontario based Canadian I am sending this to you at the
moment from San Francisco…interesting city!!
About Soy Yogurt…Back at home where I manage a Health & Wellness
Department for a large supermarket chain, soy yogurt has just started
to come on the market and is taking off big time. Unfortunately, the
strong taste of soy, must be very hard to mask because it might
say ‘peach’ but the peach flavour just cannot cover up the taste of
the soy.
So all you Canadians on the Board, look for it at a local supermarket
if you have not tried it. Many people really enjoy it by what I am
seeing in the sales.
Enjoy everyone…talk to you later again from home soon!!

need help on my diet!

Thursday, January 18th, 2007

hello everyone!..
I’m new here and could do with a bit of help.. I’ve been trying to
diet for god knows how long and nothing I try seems to work.. a
friend of mine at work mentioned the blood group diet. I was amazed
as I’d never heard of it.. so proceeded to scour the net for all the
info I could get..
well I seem to have hit a problem.. my blood group is ‘O’.. but I
dont eat meat or fish or poultry.. I’m a vegetarian.. not through
choice but as putting a morsel of meat or fish in my mouth reduces me
to vomiting all over the place.. yet it seems to say that I have to
eat these things for my health to improve as well as lose weight..
has anyone any ideas as to what I can eat?.. I love eggs and cheese..
but have noticed I’m only supposed to eat certain cheeses.. I’m
totally flummoxed… is there anyone else out there with the same
predicament as me.. please help with any suggestions..

Kosher Chicken

Wednesday, January 17th, 2007

The brand I have been buying is from Trader Joe’s in Tucson and is by
Empire. They have a website and invite people to their plant in PA
to inspect. Their meat is delicious and I am hoping as good a
quality as I think it is!!!

Food Poisoning

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

Hi,
Was recently a victim of food poisoning. Vacationing in Mexico and I
am almost positive that the shrimp I bought at the Fish Market was
contaminated. Vomited all night and couldn’t move for 3 days. I
also didn’t urinate for about a day. Thank God I am much better but
still feel a little drained from the whole thing. I am taking
probiotics and they have helped a lot. Anything else I should be
doing? I am so careful, buy organic meat, kosher chicken, grass fed
beef, etc. Guess you just can’t win sometimes. Thomas anything I
should be doing?
Thanks!!!

Acid Crisis

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

Hi, Mr. Lee!
Something you can do to help alkalinize your body is to practice deep
breathing. Fasting is acidifying; deep breathing is alkalinizing. It is
an adjunct to proper diet, not a substitute for it. LOL.
Best wishes on your project. Keep us posted about your progress and what
is working for you.

Information overload

Monday, January 15th, 2007

Okay, information overload. Can somebody tell me what to eat if I am
just going to eat the same darn thing everyday so that I can stay on
this diet. I dont think I can live without bread and cheese. I
thought spelt was okay but apparantly it is not for me because it has
either gluten or wheat afterall. I dont like rice flour bread. What
is farmer’s cheese? I have definitely felt the benefits when I have
been able to stay on the diet for a few days but am finding it so
hard to pick and choose food. I just want to eat the same thing
everyday for awhile and stabalize and then branch out. Can anybody
help? I am a carb addict. I have been eating alot of rice and rice
crackers lately and I am sure too much of them…

Jerusalem Artichokes

Monday, January 15th, 2007

It has been a few weeks since I tried something new so when I went to
the store today I looked for something new to try. I saw some
Jerusalem Artichokes and I haven’t eaten or cooked them before. I
went ahead and bought some. Any advice how to prepare them?
Also, does anybody know what it is about them that make them
beneficial?
