Type 0 and carrots?

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

Does anyone know if carrots are to be avoided by type 0 when their health is
comprimised? For some reason I have this tucked into my head and I am
wanting to know if it accidently got in there or if there is any truth to it.

food

Can someone tell what they eat all day, like breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and
also snacks? I guess that means I have to give up the ice cream too. I do eat a
lot of junk food, like chips, candy, cake but I do eat fruit. I also drink a lot
of diet pepsi no wonder I don’t feel well. Suzy

Yet another newbie!

Monday, January 22nd, 2007

Hi,
(Suzy) I’ve got fibromyalgia too! Been following The pH Miracle diet
and while it helped some things, it made others worse. The main
problem right now is fatigue…I have never had it this bad…usually
the pain for me was the main issue and THAT I can deal with! I don’t
think I have been eating enough protein.
Anyway, I went to a new chiropractor and she’s been evaluating my
nutritional supplements. Mentioned the alkalizing diet and how weak
I am and she pointed me to Dr. D’Adamo’s program. I bought the
cookbood today and a smaller pocket guide for type O.
I was interested in Sarah’s post about an encyclopedia??? Would
anyone happen to know what it recommends for O types with candida
oververgrowth?
Looking forward to learning more! Lisa

culturing milk products

Monday, January 22nd, 2007

Hi!
On the subject of culturing milk to see if o-types could tolerate it, there
are several fermentation products available, namely piima and kefir–to
quote from “Nourishing Traditions” by Sally Fallon–”Piima culture is
derived from the milk of cows that feed on the butterwort plant”
Also–”During fermentation of milk products, thirty to forty percent of the
lactose is broken down so that the high lactose content is reduced. However,
a special enzyme activity also takes place. Fermented products that are not
pasteurized or heated in ways that destoy enzyme activity have significant
levels of enzymes that contribute to the digestion of lactose in the
intestine” Health Freedom News, by Dr. Betty Kamen
“Kefir is a cultured and microbial-rich food that helps restore the inner
ecology. It contains strains of beneficial yeast and beneficial bacteria [in
a symbiotic relationship] that give defir antibiotic properties–it does not
feed yeast–kefir consume most of the lactose and provide very efficient

Where to get raw goat milk

Monday, January 22nd, 2007

If its not too late for county fairs in your locale, attend any one
you can find - 4H even. Locate the goats and get the name of
someone who sells milk. Visit their farm to find out how clean the
barn is and how carefully they sanitize the milking equipment.
We pay $3 per gallon for fresh, raw wonderful milk.
Now, Axel, you ask what we culture with. Ah that is the question
when yogurt and cottage cheese are avoids.

accuracy issues-saliva secretor test?

Sunday, January 21st, 2007

Howdy All,
I received my saliva secretor results back a few weeks ago and have
been concerned by the fact that I am a “non-secretor” due to
increased health risks. I started wondering how accurate the results
were since the saliva had to go through the mail and wasn’t on ice.
I’ve been snooping around on the Internet and found some issues in
other newsgroups about how inaccurate the saliva testing has been.
Seems that some non-secretor folks are getting the blood test for the
Lewis type (D’Adamo says this is one way to go) and are getting
secretor results instead.
One discussion group in particular www.owendot.com seems to have some
people who have gone from trusting the saliva test to doubting it and
having multiple blood tests instead. I guess the deal with getting
the blood test sent to two different labs surrounds issues of lab
accuracy which should be taken into account. There were discussions

Cleanse

Sunday, January 21st, 2007

I have started drinking a bottle of Mineral Water on a daily basis and had a
few questions (I drink either Gerolsteiners or San Pellegrinos):
1. I’ve started to notice some mineral waters that are not sparkling (aka
no bubbles). Is there any reason to favor one over the other? I sort of
enjoy the bubbles since I drink no soft drinks.
2. Some mineral waters mention “High Mineral content” or “Low Mineral
content” or in the case of San Pellegrinos it mentions “Total Dissolved
Solids 952 mg” How significant is this in making one brand different from
another? Most seem to have Calcium at about an 18% RDA rate per 25 oz, but
few list significant amounts of Magnesium. What’s the useful scoop on all
these slight variations from a health standpoint.
3. Is there any harm in drinking too much mineral water. The most I’ve
ever had is about 75 oz in one day, spread over the day. My typical intake
is 25 - 50 oz a day.

Casseroles w/ Acids

Sunday, January 21st, 2007

Hello fellow blood-type dieting (BTDing) Os!
I see we’ve got at least one neurotic newcomer vegetarian with a habit of
barfing!
And another who’s low on minerals and is fasting and is about to float away into
the ethereal land of Make Believe!
Good to see that our resident independent entrepreneur, blood-type A, is doling
out the extreme basics of macronutrient ratios to our less informed paleOiths…
For over a year now I’ve had fantasies of making my own quick goat cheese from
the goat milk available from my local HFS… but all that stuff is pasteurized.
This dude has raw goat milk, that’s awesome. I’ve read many rumors and accounts
of raw dairy being superior and more tolerable than the pasteurized (dead)
stuff… sounds like an approach to the ideal dairy for an O. I was thinking
about getting some goat butter at another HFS farther away, just for food
exploration purposes, but it’s way too expensive and my $5.00/lb grass-fed stuff
is too terrific to cheat on. What is the goat milk cultured with?

Can’t post directly

Saturday, January 20th, 2007

Can anyone tell me why I can’t reply to messages directly? I get
the message returned saying my email address is not subscribed. I
did change my address, but I registered the change on this group and
there it is when I check. So what else can I do?
TIA, Pat
