may
be getting too much vitamin K. Could just be congenital with your family

Calories, etc

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

Hi. I have been trying to keep up with the weight loss conversation and let me
see if I have this right… If I want to weigh 165, then I have to eat 1320
calories a day, 594 protein calories, 396 fat calories and 330 carb calories for
a total of 1320. Is that right? If I exercise 5 days a week, do I get to add
some calories somewhere? That just doesn’t seem like enough calories for someone
who works out a lot like me. But I do have weight to lose. (%$#@ pre-menopause)
Let me know if I am on the right track and I will try it, although I HATE to
count calories or anything. Hey I have an idea…Thomas…will you package me up
some balanced meals and send them over please? LOL

Julie - how to eat meat

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

Julie Knapper, I have been travelling, just caught up on my e-mails. Thank
you for sharing your story of childhood experiences looking in the “butcher
bag”. No wonder you have a gag reflex to meat! I have thought about your
experience, and I am glad to hear you are willing to keep trying to do this.
Here
are some suggestions, and I hope at least a few will work:
1. The #1 thought to keep in mind is you don’t want to look at meat that is
clearly in the form of animal parts, like legs, wings. organs, etc. I think
you might also want to shy away from whole cuts of red meats that clearly show
the muscular structure of the animal. Will your husband or butcher pre-chop
everything into chuncks for you?
Best of all would be if your husband cooks, or is willing to learn, and would
assist in meal preparation, so he could do the meat part, and you don’t have
to handle it or see it cooking.
2. It sounds like you already use spicy dishes and stir-fries to mask the

Rice Wraps etc. here in Canada!

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

Hello all you Canadians out there in O land!!
When working at the set-up of a new Food Basics store in Ontario, I
discovered an unsuspected and tasty offering. As some of you know I
manage an Organic Department for a sister store also owned by A&P.
At Basics I found Rice Paper..ingredients rice, water & salt. Yes I
know it is white rice, but I can live with that on occasion. You put
the wrap in warm water +- 5 seconds and it becomes pliant. Initially
it is very brittle so I break it in half before placing in the
water. Wrapped around some tuna salad with a splash of Braggs it is
a chewy treat. Wrapper says can use shrimp inside too…count me in!!
Has anyone else found that texture has become almost as important as
flavour…I said ALMOST!! ;)…since they changed to eating this way?
Love this season. Fresh tomatoes, beans, cherries..sorry have to go
eat some!!
Hugs

tortillas

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

I found Ezekial tortillas at Trader Joes. I have been warming one up and piling
sliced roast beef on it, rolling it up and yum. I had not seen these before so
maybe you all know about them already.

I took my list of herbs/etc. for help with high cortisol from you
kind folks to my N.D. She has prescribed Phosphorylated,
Serine/Ethanolamine; brand name Seriphos. Have any of you
heard/used this and what is your take on it?
