lurker de-lurking to ask some advice, please

Saturday, November 18th, 2006

Hello everyone! I’ve been a member of the list for some time now and have
enjoyed everyone’s posts very much. In particular, I loved Axel’s recent post
about the real Native diet–excellent! I copied it and sent it to some friends
in California who are ethnobotanists, they’ll love it. Would be interesting to
find out if Dr. D’Adamo has done any specific research into
proto-grains–species like einkorn and teosinte. I know he’s studied the results
of Native corn consumption in ancient populations, with interesting results.
I would like to ask for some advice about starting the O food plan. My roomie
and I are both Os–I’m O+, she doesn’t know her Rh status yet, secretor status
is also unknown for both of us at this point. Our difficulty is, we are both BIG
carb addicts. A year or two ago before I knew about the blood type diets, I read
the Carbohydrate Addicts Diet and took the quiz in the book. Out of fifty
questions, if you answered yes to ten or more, you qualified as addicted. I
answered yes to ALL of them. Every single one. Becca is about at that level of
addiction as well.

I make mine homemade granola with all the correct dried fruits.
We put it in a huge container….it is great for snacks and
breakfast, warm up and pour some warm organice or soy milk over
it…yum.
( I have B’s and O’s and an A in our house…)
I found homemade granola was $4.99 a pound at the HFS. *ow!*

100% Buckwheat Noodle Report

Friday, November 17th, 2006

I bought some 100% buckwheat spaghetti type noodles at the local
oriental grocery store recently. I cooked and served them this
week. They were good and my 2 sons liked them too. I thought they
were better then whole spelt noodles. The other advantage was they
were inexpensive.
I also bought a couple of bags of rice-based treats to try. They
were good too.
Don’t take this wrong. I don’t eat grains very often. However, when
my 2 sons are with me every other week I do tend to cook a few meals
that include grains, like spaghetti noodles (sometimes I use
spaghetti squash) or rice.
I certainly plan to return to the store and keep looking for new
things to try. I just wish I could read the labels on more of the
foods at the store. That would make shopping a lot easier!
Enjoy,

new to the board

Thursday, November 16th, 2006

Hi everyone, I have been following the diet for about two years and I
have not ben able to find anyone who follows it, so I’m really
excited about finding this group. I was hoping there might be someone
who could help me with a couple of questions. Does anyone have a
problem digesting all the protein, especially red meat? My other
question concerns sleep. I’ve tried the insomnia related protocols,
but they didn’t help, any suggestions?

non-meat eating o needs advice

Thursday, November 16th, 2006

Hi
I have just commenced the diet and am finding it quite difficult as I
don’t eat meat. I eat fish and enjoy tuna steaks, salmon etc but I
can’t motivate myself to eat it for breakfast so i end up with puffed
rice and soya milk or toasted essene bread - is this ok?
are there any specific recipes that might be useful - i have one of
the original blood type diet books and it doesn’t offer advice for
non-meat eating O’s

Spicing Sweet Potatoes

Wednesday, November 15th, 2006

I have been eating a lot of mashed sweet potatoes lately. I
frequently eat them for breakfast, instead of a bowl of cereal.
Although I haven’t gotten my young sons to try them for breakfast
yet ;-(. I also serve them with lunch and dinner whenever needed to
complete a meal. I even eat them sometimes as my dessert. I almost
always keep some cooked up in the refrigerator. One advantage of
always having some cooked up is that if I get hungry I can quickly
get them versus reaching for something less desirable.
In case you are wondering, since I burn a lot of calories in intense
cycling I don’t worry about the carbs or the higher glycemic nature
of the carbs in the sweet potatoes. Besides I normally don’t eat a
lot of them at one time.
My question is that I normally just use cinnamon to spice them but I
was wondering what others use? I would enjoy having some new ideas
if anybody has any good suggestions.

I have been very bad and I need to get motivated to fix it

Tuesday, November 14th, 2006

Hi Everyone,
I was a very successful BTDer until last November. I can blame a
number of things but the bottom line is I have discovered that it is
very difficult for me to stay on track when I am stressed out. I
stopped reading this message board and it is a huge motivator for me
when I do read it. I gave in to the temptations of fabulous breads
over the holidays. I told myself “well you cheated already today (or
this week or yesterday) so it really won’t matter if I cheat again”.
Well here I am almost 6 months later 30 pounds heavier, feeling
disgusted and disgusting. YUCK!
I had given all my clothes away that were too big but now I cannot
fit in any of the clothes I have left. I am only writing this to
motivate myself - If I make it public then I will feel ashamed if I
regress again. I am making an April 21st resolution - no more wheat -
No more easter candy - no more dairy!
