New Groups and my 2 cents

Friday, November 24th, 2006

I have been on this list 6 months or so and have NO inention of leaving. The
information has been informative, up to date and no matter the quality or
quanity of the questions, the answers are always forthcoming in an honest,
factual and personal experience manner. DO I need someone to give me permission
to join a list? NOT I would suggest the unhappy folks with all the knowledge and
product pushing move on, let the happy ones who are helping each other stay in
peace. Thomas, I appreciate your knowledge and expertise. I have not purchased
from you, but Im sure in the future I will be. You have never crammed a product
down my throat but have been very informative on whats out there and whats good,
for that I thank you for your kind and sharing attitude. To the other folks who
have been so helpful here in sharing personnal experiences and knowledge, thanks
for being here, and thanks for not judging some of the questions but answering
them with honesty and sincerity.

Two New ER Lists - Basic and Advanced Levels

Thursday, November 23rd, 2006

<<Some of the members of the Live Right list, several of whom have been
working with ER several years, and/or work professionally with it, have
formed a team to help people who are new to the
theory. A major goal of the team is to help newbies understand and utilize
the food lists and the theory in general, and to prevent incorrect
information from being posted as factual.
Kathy,
Forgive me but I’m a bit confused. If the advanced list is only open to
veterans, in what forum or venue will they be helping newbies?
Thanks!

I wish everyone well and I will talk to you in two months. I will be
leaving for Europe. I hope I can sustain my eating habits while I’am
there but I know I want to try different foods. Just an update to
the mag/potassium problem. It took me three weeks to get over it but
now my leg cramps are back again. So I increased my dosage by 3
pills a day. I hope it doesnt start all over again. Love ya Linda B.

juicers

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

Hi O’s,, can you give me/us any good juicer brands/models? Seeking one
that isn’t too pricey but can also make nut butters. and any particularly
good recipes for veggie juices? thanks all! Leslie

thanks for the suggestions

Nancy, I’ll pick up some Gerosteiner on payday. We’ve got a bottle of black
cherry juice concentrate in the fridge that we use for flavoring sauces and so
on, that should taste pretty good as a base for a sugar-free, aspartame-free
spritzer. Dianne, thanks for reminding me of herbal tea. Republic of Tea makes
a good one called Ginger Peach. I think it’s fully compliant, I’ll check the
label. If you haven’t tried it, check it out sometime. It’s delicious iced, I’d
forgotten that *chuckle*
Kathy, I’ll try magnesium. Right now I’m taking the cal-mag tabs again, and
they’re helping quite a bit with leg cramps and pain in my neck and shoulders.
For some reason they aren’t making me as tired as before, though I still take
them before I go to bed because I get a bit drowsy about an hour after taking
one.
Btw, I had taco salad for breakfast this morning–Black Angus hamburger cooked
up with onions, garlic, cumin and chili powder and served over plenty of fresh
romaine and julienned carrots. Wow! It tasted better than any pancake ever did.

individuality and the O food plan

Monday, November 20th, 2006

Hey Alisha! Nice to meet a fellow lurker :) How’s it going with the puppy? My
roomie is an animal trainer and teaches dog obedience courses, so we both know
what you’re going through right now *chuckle*
At one point I did have all the books, though somewhere in my last move I lost
everything but Live Right and Eat Right. That’s okay, I’ll just get new copies.
My old ones were pretty beat up anyway *chuckle*
Everyone has their own way of dealing with the carb addiction and needs to find
their own path, just as Dianne says. I like your way because it doesn’t put my
body into shutdown mode from withdrawal. I’m sort of following your idea only
substituting Wasa bread for Ezekiel, and it’s working. I’ll also pick up a
bottle of glutamine next weekend when I get paid, and order some bladderwrack
off the website. Way back when I was eating a lot better I used to take Susun
Weed’s advice and keep dried seaweed in the cupboard. There’s a black lacy
type–I can’t remember the name right now (yay for menopause! *g*), that’s
pretty tasty. Whenever I would get a craving for potato or tortilla chips I’d

Rye-Krisp and Wasa Bread

Monday, November 20th, 2006

Susan,
I keep a package of Hearty Rye Wasa bread in the house and team it up with tuna,
salmon or thin slices of buffalo milk mozzarella with a fresh banana or apple
for a quick lunch or a light supper at work. It makes a good-quality “cheat” too
when spread with a little butter, and satisfies my taste for wheat toast or a
sandwich. Rye-Krisp is good too, but I really like the crunchy texture of the
heavier Wasa bread. You’re right though, both do a good job of filling you up
quickly. Wasa makes a Golden Rye too–both the Hearty and Golden Rye are 100%
rye. I discovered Wasa bread years ago on a trip to Scandinavia. They eat it
with all sorts of meats and/or fish, fruits and cheeses.
Max, thanks for your encouragement, it’s much appreciated! Sometimes the only
way to go through something is to just go through it *chuckle* Been there, done
that with giving in to cravings. You just start again and keep making progress.

p.s. My roomie Becca and I are now pretty much carb-free and doing okay. :)

Organic food

Organic Vegetables
The other day it was my turn to prepare dinner so I asked my wife to go
over to the local market and buy some organic vegetables.
She came back rather upset. When I asked her what was wrong she said, “I
don’t think I like that produce guy. I went and looked around for your
organic vegetables and I couldn’t find any. So I asked him where the
organic vegetables were.”
“He didn’t know what I was talking about so I said, ‘These vegetables
are for my husband. Have they been sprayed with any poisonous
chemicals?’”
“And he said, ‘No, ma’am. You’ll have to do that yourself.’”

thanks for your help!

Sunday, November 19th, 2006

Susan, Dianne, Kathy, thank you so much for your help. I’ll work on all the
suggestions you gave me and let you know how things go.
I was taking cal-mag tabs for a while but had to quit because they made me too
tired, even though I took them before I went to bed at night hoping the effect
would wear off somewhat by the time I got up. Does straight magnesium have the
same effect? Just curious :) I’ll definitely start drinking more water too. I’ll
try raw veggies as well–baby carrots would be good to take to work and munch
on, they seem to satisfy that craving for something crunchy.–Robin

There are a lot of different kinds of heart disease. Any specifics? I can
tell you about some tests that’ll stand your hair on end.
