Digest Number 1430
Hi Sue! Welcome to the Blood Type Diet. It really makes a difference in
your health, therefore in your life. It’s worth the sacrifices, believe me.
And once you’ve been on it for a while, I’m sure you’ll find all kinds of
improvements aside from weight loss.
Cutting wheat, corn, potatoes, cauliflower, pork, milk and cheese out of my
diet was hard mentally, more than a hardship to my system. I just kept
thinking, “Well what CAN I eat?” I love pasta and used to eat it almost
daily, like some people eat potatoes. Now I eat it once or twice a week,
and it’s rice pasta. Pork was something I really liked, as does my whole
family, and also a habit which was why it was hard to do without.
Eventually I began to buy more beef, fish, and chicken to replace the pork I
wasn’t buying. I had tried Rice Dream before and liked it, and was never a
real milk lover, so switching wasn’t a big deal for me. But I love cheeses
and pasta with cheese sauces so that was hard. Now I buy goat’s milk
cheese. I especially have a taste for goat brie and apples these days. (If
you try it though, be forewarned… it has a lower melting point than
regular brie.)
Sometimes I cheat and have pizza or a dinner roll, but I always pay for it
later! Your body has so many things in it that don’t agree with you before
you start eating right that it doesn’t always react in a way that you can
identify the culprits. But after eating right for a while and then
“cheating”, your body immediately says, “Hey! That’s one of those foods
that was bothering me before! Quit eating that!” And you realize right away
what causes your discomfort, because you’re feeling so much better than
before, until you eat what you shouldn’t.
I think I’m verging on rambling here, so I’m going to sign off. I hope I’ve
answered your question in such a way that you’ll get the gist of what I
mean. LOL! I’m so glad to be so healthy now. You will be too, I’m sure of
it.

I’ve just recently heard of the Type O diet. My husband is on the
heart transplant list and a friend gave us Dr. D’Adamo’s Blood Type 0
book. I have to be honest I read it and figured “Hey, I’ve done just
fine all these years - why do I need to change anything now”. I put
the book on the shelf but strangly it keep eating at me. I found
your group and have only read about 20 messages and thought
again “Hey, maybe there’s something to this”. So the book is
currently on the counter in my kitchen. I figured I might as well
give this a whirl seeing as I need to lose about 10 pounds and we all
want to feel better, right?! I see you can have Manna bread and I am
a bread baker but geez, this bread is pretty involved to make. I
love my bread for breakfast and I love my normal cereal too. What
kinds of cereals and breads do you folks eat? And I really have to
give up milk? I’ve never had green tea but I’ll be adding that to
my grocery list. Cheese will be a problem but I’ll deal with it.
Did you all feel overwhelmed thinking you had to change your way of
eating? The 2nd part of my problem is convincing my husband to try
the diet seeing as he has the most to gain. Now that I’ve totally
bored you all I’ll sit back and lurk and try to learn. Any tips
would really be appreciated. We’re glad to be aboard!!
TIA
Sue
