to Elizabeth

Thomas:
My best friend (who is an A), brought to my attention some chewable
orange-flavored “carb blocker.” Supposedly you chew it before you eat, and
it blocks the carbohydrates. Would that be okay for O’s?

how to pick the right ER list

Wednesday, November 29th, 2006

I realize the conversation here must be confusing to new members, who are
getting competing information about which list to join. It may be that the
only fair suggestion to make is to that you join a couple of lists for
awhile, and after a few weeks, you will have a good idea of which groups are
supportive and informative, and if there are some groups with their own
agenda of marketing and personal promotion. I can only tell you I have been
on this list for several years, lost 25 pounds and conquered many physical
and mental health issues, and I could not have done it without this group.
It is not necessary for me or other members to discredit anyone else who runs
a list. If it’s the people we think they are, they’ll do that themselves!

recipes…I am new at this and it encouraged
me a lot to see these recipes that I know are “safe” for me to use.
I hope to be able to contribute some things soon!
Just learning right now!

Combo Stews

Tuesday, November 28th, 2006

I find it extremely helpful to make a good stew using only highly
beneficial foods, and those that promote weight loss. I just make a
rather large one, and I have it for my main meals, and I also take
some to work for lunch. I’ve found some pre-made spaghetti sauces
that do not have corn syrup, and I use that in the stews a lot of
the time, with a lot of garlic, onions, some seaweed, beef stew meat
(Costco, of course!), bell peppers, green beans, and that’s pretty
much it. I made one with diced sweet potatoes and it was great. In
6 weeks, I’ve lost 22 pounds. My energy level is way up, and I’m
just feeling so much better. Coffee is the only vice I have left,
but just naturally, without trying, my consumption and desifre for
coffee has significantly diminished. I have a 40 minute
running/walking regime I follow at least 4 times a week, early in
the morning, and the exercise bit is the kicker!!!
It’s working for me extremely well

Five weeks, successful, and having a lot of fun with the diet

Tuesday, November 28th, 2006

First, I love to cook, and I sure have come up with some weird
sounding concoctions which include all, or mainly highly beneficial
ingredients. Just tonight I made a pesto from spinach, pumpkin
seeds, salt, olive oil, a bit of seaweed, and green kale….and I
use it in place of mayonnaise, and had it with ezekial bread and all
beef hot dogs! Fantastic!
I love to exercise anyway, but I’ve been so motivated..I run about
four to six days a week, for at least 40 minutes, which includes a
bit of sprinting up a hill in the park where I run.
I have lost 17 pounds in 5 weeks, and I can really tell the
difference. I have not tried to stop drinking coffee, but I find
that I do not “need” it so much anymore to get energized in the
mornings.
I honestly think I’ve found a way to live..which is fun and exciting
as well.

horseradish/wasabi

Monday, November 27th, 2006

Hi Sarah *waves* I’m going to experiment with changing the vinegar to apple
cider and will let you know how it comes out.
Don and Dianne–I haven’t worked with wasabi too much. From all accounts it’s a
slightly more subdued but longer-lasting burn than fresh horseradish. I know the
fresh stuff tastes great on poultry. My old workplace makes a “red” horseradish
(with beets added) that is wonderful on chicken. The sweet/fiery combination is
terrific! I’ll have to try turkey and wasabi with nori, that sounds really
tasty!
Way back when I was still eating mashed potatoes I used to add horseradish to
the finished product just before it went to the table for serving. I’d bet it
would taste good with sweet potatoes. It’s good in applesauce too–the
sweet/fiery combination again. But my favorite way to eat it is about an inch
thick on a nice juicy steak. Yummy!
If you were to visit a traditional Philly seafood restaurant like the Sansom
Street Oyster House, there’s a good chance you’d be offered my company’s brand

horseradish and white vinegar

Monday, November 27th, 2006

Hi Sarah! You’re right. I should have mentioned that I drain as much of the
vinegar out as possible when I buy a jar. Of course that causes problems,
because the volatile oil in horseradish evaporates quickly and the food turns
brown from exposure to air–that’s why most manufacturers add stuff to the
ground-up root, it keeps it hotter longer. The best thing to do is cap the
bottle tightly, turn it upside down and store it in a dark area of your fridge.
The alternative is to grind your own horseradish. I’ve seared my sinuses and
lungs enough over the years, thanks *chuckle* –Robin

sharing breakfast

Sunday, November 26th, 2006

Wow, so many good ideas for breakfast! Thanks guys, I look forward to
experimenting with all those recipes. Btw, I usually use rice or almond milk in
my smoothies. I’ve been allergic to soy for years and besides, I don’t like the
taste. (And Thomas is right–I think it’s in Live Right that Dr. D says soy can
be problematic for Os.) And it doesn’t go all that well with mango or blueberry,
imo anyway. If there’s no milk on hand, I use fruit juices like pineapple or a
touch of grapefruit, or even water–just enough to get the fruit to smooth out.
(Okay Thomas, I’ll use protein powder from now on.)
Krickett–I like sardines too, but usually eat them when I’m by myself. My
roomie can’t stand the smell and neither can my co-workers *chuckle* I love them
though, either right out of the can or on Wasa bread. I had a boss who used to
eat them at 3 a.m. when he was up writing programs for clients. His secretary
would have a fit when she would go into the computer lab and find the remains
the next morning *lol*
Egg and broccoli “omelettes” rule. They are a terrific way to use up leftovers.

New lists

Saturday, November 25th, 2006

By the way, I’m on the Basic list myself and have been from when it first
started. Sue from Cypress started it as a way of being there for people in other
countries who don’t have all the books or they haven’t been translated into
their language. Since Sue home schools I joined at the beginning to be a help if
I could. The idea is to have a group of all blood types represented to give
advise. Only Blood Type way of eating is discussed there.
Isn’t it best to get back on track on this list? I don’t think we prophet anyone
by continuing to discuss what we thought was wrong on the other lists we were
on. No Tabitha is not back. Other ways of eating that can be combined with Blood
type are discussed on Live Right. There is no more Tiger Medicine, as Elizabeth
and her husband have moved to Phoenix. The old list was brought back into use
because the newer lists don’t have as much file space as the older ones do.This
way the old files can still be checked for information.

new ER lists are an AVOID for O’s

Saturday, November 25th, 2006

I would like to add my own experience, that Elizabeth is indeed the Tiger
Medicine/Shaklee snake oil saleswoman we all know and revile from previous
lists. This woman posts extremely long, boring diatribes about health, and
as far as I can tell, she makes it all up. She pushes Shaklee products to
O’s that blatantly contain AVOIDs. When list members question her on this
practice, they are subjected to a barrage of abuse and insults. When
Elizabeth and her minions run a list, they start it the way these have been
advertised: What is this nonsense that one must “apply” to the list, prove
they’ve read certain books, and agree to read more? Do I get college credit
for this? When is the test? This is just another aspect of this person’s
controlling mentality and disrespect for the common good. She constantly
seeks to police what we are reading and thinking, uses hostility and
intimidation to control her list, and then kicks people off the list when
they don’t “fall into line”. People who have been on an Elizabeth/Tiger
Medicine list have come to this list and told all sorts of tales of her
