Update on Dad
My dad is still sort of in a holding pattern. He has meetings with two
doctors next week to discuss two different types of treatments. One is
radical surgery, which if the cancer did not spread past the prostate then
they consider this a cure. The other is a cryogenic treatment where they
freeze the prostate and it essentially dies and remains in the body dead.
They cannot be certain they have gotten it all, but it’s a much more minor
day surgery. I’m sure even after he picks a treatment he’ll have to wait to
be treated by the right doctor so I don’t think things will change much for
at least a month or so. I got mom and dad high-speed internet for Christmas
and it has been a great gift as dad has been researching heavily on the
prostate. I think it has given him more of a sense of empowerment. He is a
Type B and he and mom have begun heavily adhering to Living Right 4 their
type. I even spent part of one day making a list of all the common neutral
and beneficial foods between Type B Secretors (Dad) and Type O Non-Secretors
(Mom). If anyone would like a copy of the list I’d be glad to forward it.
As for how I’m holding up. It really shook me because Dad has been the rock
for everyone and it’s a completely new feeling to feel that rock move a
little. I’m 39 and have never married (I’m honestly even still a virgin and
yes that’s too much info, but it gives you a better picture of me) and it
has brought so many things into focus. I’d been somewhat irresponsible
before the last 2 or 3 years and since this happened everything is so clear
as far as what’s important. I’m in awe of my parents and how they have
lived their lives. I will say that in a world where everyone talks the
talk, my dad never talks the talk, he only walks the walk. The gush of love
for both mom and dad, but especially dad has been amazing. If this had to
happen, I am so thankful that it did because it has given me the opportunity
to complete my maturity even at 39 and to begin to lay the foundation to
carry on his name.
The Blood Type information has made such a difference in my life. Being a
Non-Secretor explained so much to me about so many things in my life.
Living on high-quality proteins, lots of greens (I eat two or three bunches
of kale/collard/spinach every day) and some fruit as well as little bits of
other things along with taking pharmaceutical grade fish oil and joining
Club-O (the Blood Type Diet’s package of O supplements) along with now daily
exercise (I just bought a bike to ride) gives me the sense I’m doing all I
can to enjoy my body and the life I’m given each day. Thanks to all of you
for your prayers and your friendships. I will keep you posted.
One things I did wonder was if Dad does choose Radical Therapy (removal of
his Prostate) I will show him this protocols for surgery from the
Encyclopedia, but what can I do for him while he is incapacitated. I know
how important just being up and around is to health. Are there ways to
mitigate this even to small degrees?
