skin cleansing

This is in response to Aduladi’s post on February 13th:
“Subject: Re: Newbie here! Please comment on my “attack plan”…
Well you may not have acne you might have boils..also
it is a fallacy that don’t get acne as an adult. As
for will this diet help - I can only say most likely.
Most people find that their skin improves immensely if
they get on the healthy bandwagon. I think the skin
eliminates toxins, etc., which can cause your skin to
look unhealthy (the same as any other organ that is
taxed to do its work). The best thing is to just try
it - doesn’t hurt and it will probably help.”
Axel:
Yeah, the largest organ of the human body is also an organ of elimination.
Anyone here experimented with niacin, not the flush-free kind but the
make-your-skin-so-red-and-tingly-you-swear-you-were-blasted-by-solar-radiation-o\

r-an-atomic-bomb variety? I’ve read cautions against it for reasons of liver
toxicity (I’m talking mega-doses of niacin well beyond the U.S. RDI) and I know
Dr. D is very cautious about some vitamins, minerals and supplements. He does
not like some of the supplements sold, he feels some of them shouldn’t even be
OTC but by prescription only.
Wasn’t someone in this group also experienced with the Hubbard detoxification
regimen? I recall a brief discussion about cleansing of the liver and using
something to flush the skin while using a sauna or steam room for a double
assault on the skin to enhance cleansing. My dad once said that he read that a
good sauna sweat can help take off about a third of the detoxifcation duties of
the liver during the day.
Anyway, I’ve found a good sweat in the sauna to be great for my skin. I don’t
like the chlorine water. I’ve read that chlorine is less stable than oxygen,
producing free radicals. I’ve read that it is easily absorbed into the skin. So
maybe it isn’t such a good idea to swim long in a chlorinated pool? And I don’t
like breathing above the whirlpool when the bubbles are on. I’m thinking it may
also be a good idea to shower immediately after immersion in chlorinated water
and after a sauna sweat, to wash off the chlorine from the chlorinated water and
to wash off the toxins released after sweating.

Linda - I, too, have Rosacea. I use Aveeno soap, cleanser, lotion &/or
ivory soap. Believe Aveeno also now has shower & bath cleanser. Also
has the powder to add to bath water. Aveeno is made from finely ground
oats. I use Metro-gel (presc) on face 2xday.

My kind of rosea has the “blush” but also icludes acne break outs that
are much worse then I had as a teenager. i have had cysts the I had to
have injected to get rid of, because they are so far under the surface.I
have a precription for metro gel but am trying to minimize my usage. I
used to take an oral antibiodic but have stopped that completely without
breaking out. Yep, I have English/German background.
