ER4YT diet and Perfectionism

Ham Bone surprised me by bringing up a valid discussion topic: perfectionism
(notice the double space following the colon).
Here is his inspiring passage:
“But the main thing is that this ain’t the catholic church, where you
get your orders from “on high” ….and where you wait for word from
to determine if doing this or that(eating this or that) is allowed by
the pope(dr. d’adamo)…and that if you make a mistake(eating an
avoid) you will have to go to confession(this board) and ask for
forgiveness and then basically hold in your true sins(cravings) until
you go out and commit sin(binge) because you’ve been raised to be a
perfectionist(the best self-liars in the world).
I know..cause I’ve gone through all that. I come here for a
little insight into creative ways to satisfy my palate, see about
recipes, maybe provide some happiness, but NOT to get worried about
if what i’ve been eating is WRONG. I also don’t get into all this

self-justification about how it SHOULD be done….you know about the
sickness of “should do this & don’t do this”…. ”
Okay, so you understand some of the dangers of perfectionism. Good. You are
opposed to people advising on how things SHOULD be done… alright.
But don’t you EVER call me a perfectionist under Dr. Peter D’Adamo’s diet based
on the ABO blood groups.
I don’t often meet his recommendations for fruits and vegetables. I certainly
don’t follow his written opinion on raw meats as he participated on his own
message forum. I follow his diet well in most respects, I am an avid fan of
food-combining, I eat lots of HBs and hardly any avoids…
You likened dietary purity to an organized religion. Fair enough. If D’Adamo is
the pope than I am a heretic.
I’m also Jewish by birth (from momma). So that makes my whole raw animal food
blitz of the last 10 months… hey! I’m a rogue Jew! I’m a rogue blood-type
dieter!
So I’m a sinner. Big deal. And I don’t feel that guilty about the fruits and
vegetables because I get more antioxidants and other special stuff from my raw
meat. Dr. D is great, but his diet, like many others, is still modeled after a
catch-all safety net including a wide variety of foods with recommended portion
sizes and frequencies that I have a difficult time meeting. Not only am I not
hungry enough to eat all those fruits and vegetables at the same time I meet my
basic nutrient needs from the meat and fat (I need more protein than a sedentary
O because I’m actively weight training for more strength and still gaining some
mass) but I don’t have the money for those expensive organic fruits and veggies.
The regular supermarket for my neighborhood is gone, the only place is a HFS
(the Wedge) and some oriental grocers (stale, sad veggies most of the time). So
I’m not perfect.
But I do believe in pre-soaking the nuts, seeds and whole grains long enough for
them to release their anti-nutrients and digestive inhibitors. I am now a
believer in the healing power of raw animal foods. I think many of us are
wasting our time making these stupid amaranth breads and dumb arrowroot crap. My
Jewish soul would rather drink beef blood as my morning pick-me-up, absorbing
the spirit energy of a giant mammal instead of some hippy wheatgrass/carrot
juice concoction!
