Topical Avoids - An OK by Dr. Bron

Saturday, September 30th, 2006

Hi everyone —
I’ve never posted to this list before (been lurking for 2 - 3 weeks),
so I’ll make a quick intro: my name is Pat, and I’m the Mom (and head
chef) in a completely Type O family. I’m the only family member
following the ER4YT diet — my naturopath encouraged me to try this
approach for my allergies, migraines and rosacea, and it’s working out
very well so far. My histamine reactions have gradually declined in
frequency and severity over the last two weeks, so I’m quite pleased,
to say the least!
Regarding topical sensitivities, I’m just like to share a word of
advice with the allergy-prone: I’m gluten-intolerant, and I also
have histamine-type reactions (flushing, itchy eyes, swollen sinus
membranes, racing heartbeat) when I eat gluten-containing grains. When
I used a shampoo that contained wheat protein (duh!), my scalp broke
out in tiny, itchy blisters — this condition cleared up as soon as I

UNIQ…..a double take

Friday, September 29th, 2006

oops. I decided, for ol-time sakes, to have a slice of citrus UNIQ
AFTER my greasy breakfast today…..argh!
I got that nasal-throat mini-acid reflux reaction. BURNNNNNNN!! oh
well. At least i got to remind myself of the pain. hee hee.
Pineapples don’t do this reflux thing to me, so i’ll label it a minor
avoid.

For the record….pummelo alternative

Friday, September 29th, 2006

CORRECTION…..i mentioned an alternative to PUMMELO….it’s called
UNIQ…..not ANIQ.
I tried one last night again…..pretty mild feel of grape fruit, but
the juiciness/tastiness of an orange. No acid after-effects. I only
had 2 slices of the thing.

That is always true but are you healthy and feel good when you get to your
ideal weight and do you keep it off?

Deoderant….ouch

Wednesday, September 27th, 2006

Tea Tree oil deoderant…OOOWWWWWWWWWWW!!!! I got rid of that.
Now i just use the mineral rock…wet it down…and apply.
I use tea tree oil mouthwash & i’ve used the various tea tree -
flavored conditioners(love the “tingle”), but this just plain hurts!!
I think it’s either the tea tree or the alcohol they put in the
ingredients. Had i seen the alcohol, I wouldn’t have bought it.
Unless you’re a masochist and love a good 10 minute STING feeling,
don’t reach for the tea tree deoderant. geesh.

kid’s diets

Wednesday, September 27th, 2006

MC, I’m with you… trying really hard to give my 5 yr. old good nutrition
… it’s a really hard challenge. I’m convinced that his transition to
school lunches has contributed to more sick days.. but there isn’t much I
can make him that he’ll eat : (. Plus visiting the relatives this past week
where the grandma’s were happily telling me how he loved the oranges and
wheat cereals with milk, peanut butter and jelly on wheat bread… UGH! I
was mortified and depressed.. smiling and saying thanks just didn’t feel
right!! I felt like he was being poisoned… and what kind of a mother am
I trying to put a child on my diet !! “kid’s need milk for strong
bones…”
As a kid, I had my tonsils out, had frequent colds and was pretty
spacey/fogbound … and I seriously wonder if my wheat/dairy/OJ diet caused
all that… I really want to help my child to eat right (4yt)… but it’s
hard in today’s world! sorry to ramble but guess I needed to vent,,
thanks for listening! Leslie

Debbie, I’ve noticed the B vitamins really help when I’m down… also
exercise helps.. there are some homeopathic remedies for anxiety too.
Also a dose of sunshine and a visit w/ a good friend who you can unload on!!
