Another Newbie w/questions…….
Hi All,
Am enjoying this list and learning alot….Have only been here a short time.
Here’s my stats as I need all the help I can get!
Debbie
34
5′3″
226
3 kids and done (16y/o b, 13 y/o b, 3 y/o girl~surprising the medical
profession as they all have the same father)
Married 17 yrs to a yet to be identified type
Love to cook ~ not a dieter (hopefully that helps….have eaten pretty much
whatever I want)
Have a Gazelle and Pilates tapes I do plan to use
I was very intrigued when I discovered this ER4YT. Its helped make alot of
sense out of some of the things I naturally did.
Im too young to feel this damn old and have to make take some drastic
measures at this point. I will not see another year go by dreading to go
clothes shopping nor weigh over 200lbs when my son graduates in 2 years. I
have a few questions and concerns. Hope you all can help.
I saw the distiction made about ‘WLM’ assuming it meant ‘weight loss
mode’…..I definnantly need to be in this mode……so how should I go about
that?
Im also concerned about the increase in cost to the spelt and ezz bread and
specialty type items…any advice here?
Ive purchased my staples in bulk for a long time to keep our 1 income budget
a float and am concerned whether this is doable or cost prohibitive with
these specialty type things. Havent yet gone out to survey my stores for
these items yet (no health food type stores close but a Raleys I plan to
check out)…….I need all the advice I can get!
Im so glad Im an O as I do like meat and also benefit from my
duck/deer/pheasant hunters (hubby and sons) and my kids raise lamb for 4H and
we pick up a steer and feed it out on our property for the freezer. ( should
we be graining it?)
I also have a large plot for a garden and am making a list of “must grows” to
help my grocery budget.
Where do I start for Max~WLM? Also some discrepencies???? STrawberries were
an avoid ( a favorite) then show up as a nuetral……..which list is most
accurate?
I have ordered the Kelp online……..have any of you found that it really
does assist in weight loss?
Yeah I want to feel good and be healthy and all, but my priority right now is
to lose about 80lbs and not be bankrupt in 2 years.
Thanks in advance
Debbie

It sounds like you’re set up a lot better than most people. 1. You have a
garden plot. 2. Your protein source sounds inexpensive since your husband
and son hunt. Just follow the diet, cut your carbs and get a good weekly
amount of exercise. Say good-bye to strawberries or any high carb foods for
a while–LOL.

<< Yes the spelt
products (if you can find them in the store) can be
costly but you must remember you’re probably not going
to be eating a lot as most Americans do. You can also
look to making your own using Spelt, Rice or another
acceptable “flour”. But really you don’t NEED bread -
it’s just nice to have once in awhile.
What a great post from Wish! I only want to add that before you spend a lot
of money shifting to spelt, you might want to find out if you’re a non
secretor or secretor. I went years without losing much weight and blamed it
on a variety of reasons. One of the real reasons was that I was a
non-secretor and once I found that out and adjusted my eating accordingly, I
began to drop weight like a rock.
Another thought is that you might want to look at the Atkin’s diet. Just
stay away from the expensive supplements. It is a more severe form of the
BTD.

Thanks Wish……Im printing everything.
I havent had any problems physically with eliminating the
dairy…..Ill miss cheese but have mozzarella available if a craving
kicks in. Im actually feeling really good and I attribute to the
elimination of the Wheat/corn. I’ve done my trip to raleys and
although I found alot of stuff (Ezekiel bread-various flours) Im
probably going to lean toward just having the bread in the freezer
and take a few out a week as removing bread from my diet is a drastic
adjustment. I picked up soy and brown rice flour to make cookies with
and for making graveys etc…fortunately for now its just me doing
the adjustments. We do raise lamb but if you are anywhere near a
Costco, they consistently carry a leg of lamb that is never over
3.99lb….its boneless and is perfect on rotisserie…..with a dry
rub on it i had a hard time telling it from prime rib….and 1 would
probably make 2 meals and sandwiches for our family…
As far as the cow goes…..hes not being grained (thats usually done
just before slaughter) but should he NOT have alfalfa if alfalfa is
an avoid for me? Or wheat hay?I will be checking out the site. Thanks
for the advice.

Uhh……i understand how you might want to “save money” makin your
own nut butters, or even getting it “fresh” from the market(the nut
butter machine)……but there are things called aflatoxins. It
could KILL you. Whoa, you say. Just wanted to throw it out to ya.
You’re messing with a touchy food toxin there. Maybe youy know how
to do it, but storing homemade nut butters & / or getting it straight
outta the machine is a bit risky. I’d rather just buy it from those
expensive jars where they comply with toxin testing.

<< My BT book says alfalfa is an avoid for Os.
It’s an avoid if you eat it but it’s OK if the Cattle eat it. They have
several stomachs to make it beef.
