New to group, sort of….

Hello all! I joined this group last August and loved it but then got
brainwashed by my cousin and did slim fast for a long time. I’m
finally coming back to my meat eating senses! :) And no I did not
lose any weight on slim fast. A little about me: 23 and about 45
pounds overweight, candida sufferer (moderate case caused by a high
carb diet through my teens [I was an Ornish follower]), tendency
toward depression and I have frequent digestive problems. I was
going to ask about burning in the stomach after eating a heavy
protein meal…but from reading from the archives I’ve found that
that sensation is only my body digesting properly. Hopefully that is
the case. I’ve found, since reducing carbs again, that I can eat
much much more that I could when I was eating carbs and protein
together. I am taking Yeast Fighters for the candida and
supplementing with Apple Cider Vinegar drinks. I also,
unfortunately, am on birth control at the moment which I know is

probably contributing to candida but until i can afford a fertility
monitor that’s my only option. Oh yeah, I should mention I’m
married! My husband is an O too, which makes things very easy,
although my diet is a little stricker because of the candida. I’m
going to invest in Cook Right very soon ( I paid about 5 dollars in
late fees last time I checked it out). But in the meantime does
anyone have any good crock pot recipes? We have a nice big one that
I’ve never used! Also, how would I determine if I am a secretor or
nonsecretor? Is this in another book?

    TRY DOING MORE OF A POACH EGG/FRIED. COOK EGG IN SMALL ABOUT OF WATER
    INSTEAD OF THE OIL. SEE IF THAT HELPS. I DON’T USUALLY COOK WITH TOO MUCH
    OIL AT ALL.

    Courtney,
    Do you get the same burning sensation, either hungry or indigestion with
    any protein, or is it when you have eggs with oil? You questioned whether to
    have bread with it. You might try a half slice or whole slice of bread with
    hard boiled eggs.
    You might need to do like some of the members and have either left over
    meat and vegetables for breakfast and schedule a hard boiled egg and say
    carrots or small salad for break, or to nibble on when you need to. Also,
    with the hypoglycemia, you may need to plan like 5 small meals and have your
    raw veggies through until evening with cooked ones at night. Do proteins
    help you hold off the headache better than crabs?
    Make sure you fix enough for the next day at night, when you can. Then
    you only have to worry about supper and the next day the next night. If you
    can fix for several days at a time, and put it in separate containers,
    freezing what you can’t eat right away, that would give you something to

    pull out when you are in a hurry. Let us know how you are doing. I know
    those things they have ready for a quick breakfast are so handy and
    tempting, but it seems they won’t help your hypoglycemia either. I eat my
    noon meal at Senior Citizens, and I have to be careful to take my
    substitutes for the things I can’t eat or tell them not to put certain
    things on my plate. If it is on there, I can be good much of the time,
    remembering the pain of arthritis is the result of me getting off this way
    of eating, but the temptation becomes so great that I can think to myself
    one bite won’t hurt, and then find myself enjoying like a whole roll or a
    big biscuit. That idea of a sliver of each is one I’ve used to keep from not
    having anything at baby and wedding showers. I just don’t like the funky
    feeling, like my brain is mushy feeling I get from it.

    It might just be that you need to heal. Watch what you season with also.
    Might have used something that’s an avoid.

    It may have been some of the vitamins that caused the burning. That has
    happened to me. Drink lots of water.

    Why don’t you go to the modern herbalist web site, <A

    and do a free phone consolation with Dr. Dave. I did this a few months ago
    and he answered many of my candidia questions, and helped me with my
    irritable stomach. I did not buy his protocol for candidia, but I have
    bought many of the products he recommended, and have had some great
    improvements.
    The candidia diet, and the O diet are very similar, but you must remember if
    you eat O foods that are allowed, and have candidia, you are counteracting
    yourself. They work together, but only to a certain extent.
    If protein bothers you so much, then stick with proteins that are mild and
    easier to digest, like chicken and fish. It took me a long time to deal with
    red meat, and I still have problems with it. But after two liver flushes,
    and parasite control, I can deal with it a lot better now. Also, high fat

    foods like nuts really bother my stomach, and I have the burn after. It is
    really a matter of finding out what you can and cant tolerate. Fasting for a
    day also helps me to tolerate proteins, since I give my body time to
    eliminate some of the toxins that are built up by eating sugars and processed
    foods. (holiday food residue).
    Yes, it is hard, believe me, I deal with the cravings every day, but with the
    correct supplements, and a very patient attitude, you will find your way.
    Remember to be kind to yourself, but not too kind. Starch addiction is a
    REALLY hard addiction to break, up there with nicotine!
