I am new

Monday, June 19th, 2006

Hi my name is Regina and I am new here. I am O- and my doctor has suggested
the Eat right for your blood type diet. I have acid reflux really bad and we
are hoping this diet will help. I am just having a hard time starting.. Any
suggestions on getting started? Also I would like some breakfast ideas. I
need something I can grab in the morning and take to work with me. I never
have time to eat before going to work. So once I get to work I end up having
donuts :( I am also a Dr. Pepper addict and I don’t know what to drink to
replace it that will be as satisfying.
Thanks
Regina

Pumpkin Pie?

Sunday, June 18th, 2006

I bought some canned pumpkin this weekend knowing it is a beneficial for
Type O Non-Secretors. I looked at the label on the can and besides
cinnamon (which is a O Non-Secretor avoid) and sugar (which I assume
vegetable glycerin could be substituted for) the only avoid I see on the
Libby’s pumpkin can is the sweetened condensed milk. Any way to combine
rice or almond milk of some sort and a bit more vegetable glycerin to
make a substitute? I’m happy eating my beneficials, but this makes my
family understand I can eat something they consider normal :-) Any ideas?

Protein, Protein, Protein

Sunday, June 18th, 2006

I mean, like: Do I concentrate just on the HB proteins and
veggies, and are there specific supplements that will assist me?
Learning how to make tasty, appealing meat/fish and vegetable meals
is my goal.
Any suggestions or recipes would be appreciated. Thank you!
Eilene *_*
Eilene there is more than one way to approach this way of eating. Dr. D
suggests cutting out the avoids slowly and add HB foods as you go shopping for
more food. If you cut out all avoids and go only HB all at once, the detox that
results will be worse than if you do it gradually. It probably all depends on
the symptoms you have.
In order to cook great tasting dishes, I would first begin by going through the
list of HB foods and highlighting those that you like. What can you then create
with those, adding neutral veggies for variety?
One of my favorites is stuffed red bell peppers. They are very easy to make -

Finding my way back

Sunday, June 18th, 2006

What seems like forever ago, i was on this diet. Then my life went
haywire and my Grandpa died. I said ’screw it”. Now, I have gained
back all 30 pounds I lost back over a year ago. My back is starting
to hurt again and I need to do something. I tried sugar-free eating
and food combining but found my want for sugar and chocolate too
overpowering. I even tried diet pills prescribed by a ‘weight
doctor’. I was just jittery, had dry mouth and forgot to feed my
family as well as myself.
So, here I am in need of some guidance. I am starting on Wednesday.
Why the delay? I need to get some things out of the house and also,
I have a big test coming up on Tuesday night. I just need to
concentrate on that rather than what I can eat. But just until
Wednesday, not too far away.
Still going through stressors. Nothing has gotten any better. This
semester in school has been tough eventhough only taking one class,

Statistics about Bread!

Sunday, June 18th, 2006

Truer than “they” know! :-) Betsy
Statistics about Bread!
1. More than 98 percent of convicted felons are bread users.
2. Fully HALF of all children who grow up in bread-consuming households
score below average on standardized tests.
3. In the 18th century, when virtually all bread was baked in the home,
the average life expectancy was less than 50 years; infant mortality
rates were unacceptably high; many women died in childbirth; and
diseases such as typhoid, yellow fever, and influenza ravaged whole
nations.
4. Every piece of bread you eat brings you nearer to death.
5. Bread is associated with all the major diseases of the body. For
example, nearly all sick people have eaten bread. The effects are
obviously cumulative:
a) 99.9% of all people who die from cancer have eaten bread.

Wheat

Saturday, June 17th, 2006

Is it true that 3 of the 4 blood types cannot tolerate wheat? It is
amazing and sad that it is in so much of our foods, and almost the
only bread offered at fast-food restaurants. I have been trying to
eliminate wheat and am having a fair amount of success, but I am
still finding it hard to be 100% successful. I mean, it’s even in
black licorice, whether from the grocery store or the health food
store. I guess my only other option is to take the herb (not as much
fun), or ask any of you if you know of a company that sells black
licorice without wheat flour?
And I have also found it true that now that I have gotten away from
it, when I do eat something with a lot of wheat in it, like bread,
cake, cookies, etc. I get a stomachache. Not a bad one, but enough
of one to make me rethink my choices..lol It may be doing other bad
things, but the stomachache is the only one that is readily evident
to me right now.

I also have a gym mmembership for her to go when she wants to. And I
have told her I would help her if she wants me to. I love her Linda.

Interesting Info

Friday, June 16th, 2006

Some interesting yet pointless information that has nothing to do with the
BTD:
A pineapple is a berry.
Arrowroot, an antidote for poisoned arrows, is used as a thickener in
cooking.
Banana oil never saw a banana; it’s made from petroleum.
Bananas are actually herbs. Bananas die after fruiting, like all herbs do.
Cranberries are one of just 3 major fruits native to North America.
Blueberries and Concord grapes are the other two.
Eggplant is a member of the thistle family.
Ginger has been clinically demonstrated to work twice as well as Dramamine
for fighting motion sickness, with no side effects.
Oranges, lemons, watermelons, and tomatoes are berries.
Peanuts are beans.
Wheat is the world’s most widely cultivated plant; grown on every continent
