I am new
Hi my name is Regina and I am new here. I am O- and my doctor has suggested
the Eat right for your blood type diet. I have acid reflux really bad and we
are hoping this diet will help. I am just having a hard time starting.. Any
suggestions on getting started? Also I would like some breakfast ideas. I
need something I can grab in the morning and take to work with me. I never
have time to eat before going to work. So once I get to work I end up having
donuts
I am also a Dr. Pepper addict and I don’t know what to drink to
replace it that will be as satisfying.
Thanks
Regina

cool, i love meeting the newbies.
ACID REFLUX…….here’s the stuff that GIVES me acid reflux
VINEGAR……..salsa, pickled stuff(veggies/pickles), condiments
(mustard…any corn-syrup based sauces)…..
HIGH ACID FRUITS(THE AVOIDS….i.e oranges, apples, kiwis)
straight sugary foods…..you know it when you eat it.
DRINKS……..i don’t drink anything except water
anywasys….corn=syrup based crap does it to me.
Also, don’t eat too fast. If i do, the stuff tends to jump back up
later on…..ick
I recommend you buy the mini-booklet to take with you to the
grocery….with the nicely arranged columns about the various foods.
?What to do for breakfast? here’s a rather UNREALISTIC idea……but
one i’ve used for over a year. I prepare buckets of steamed
meat/veggies for 3 days at a time. The foods are then arranged in
them RUBBERMAID buckets. I have 4 buckets set per day. I just throw
the buckets into the cooker with plenty of butter & oil…..and
BOOM!! quick meal. but, if you’re rushed, eat it cold(if you’re
hungry you’ll LEARN TO LOVE IT)
enjoy(sorry i don’t know much about Dr. Peppah addiction, but i
recommend you see DR. MERCOLA’S website about EFT…..he claims you
can get over soda addiction with it)

Stop drinking coffee, orange juice, etc. Stop eating grains, sweet rolls,
bread, jelly, etc. Eat protein and fat. Drink lots of water!!! Your reflux
ought to stop then.
I eat eggs, maybe bacon (well killed), left over steak, maybe a slice of EZ
bread and butter. Green tea, water, etc.
Go for it.

Sounds like salmonella from spoiled food. Shrimp spoil easily and you only
need to eat one bad part of one out of a meal. Same idea as the errant small
piece of uncooked hamburger left outside all afternoon during the cookout and
accidently consumed. Man, nowadays, if any food tastes a little funny, it’s
out of my mouth right now. A fishy tasting shrimp, funny oyster, or pastey
hamburger goes right in the trash.

Regina,
It just says fish. Not necessarily shell fish. Also, are you allergic to
kelps like dulse, nori, bladderwack and others? I don’t know where you live,
but they are high in iodine, along with fish. Have you had your thyroid
checked? Not all O’s are deficient. We just have a tendency to have a low
thyroid.

I think REgina, accidentally, helped support Dr. d’Adamo’s “kinda”
recommendations AGAINST eating shellfish. Sure, it might be NEUTRAl
for non-secretors like me, but there’s always the tendency of
allergies to appear with them darn lectins everywhere. Imean, my
MEGA SPEED READING tapes even mentioned how shrimp contains
those “confusion capabilities”…..
Iodine…..try iodized sea salt. Yum yum.
I hate fish, but i LOVE shellfish. Probably eat it once every few
months when i get the need to SPLURGE.
REad LIVE RIGHT…….not EAT RIGHT…..you’ll get better updated
goodies, Regina. Also, on the www.dadamo.com site, someone asked a
question about shellfish on the ON THE DIET board, which had a more
coherent answer. I don’t do coherent.

Regina,
Try dropping one avoid at a time, and don’t even buy it if you can help it.
Try to take the attitude that avoids are like poisons. Now that I know I’m
getting rid of them one by one.
This way your body more easily adjusts and it is easier not to feel deprived
when you see that avoid in the store. Read all labels, and if you have any
questions, we’ll be glad to answer to the best of our knowledge.

That was too much torture for me. I threw everything out and went cold
turkey. In a week I felt so good I never looked back. You really don’t know
how toxic you are until you rid yourself of all of the avoids. Don’t wait
until you’re in ICU like I did or getting your esophagus cut out like my
cousin who now sleeps sitting up. He REALLY has to be careful with reflux.

<< Even though i do believe in this diet, I don’t look at the body as a

Actually, the human body physically is one big chemical reactor that
processes external input into a direction that will produce the best effect
and the least harm. Foods are chemicals, thoughts are chemicals, perceptions
are chemicals, exercises are chemicals, etc. The body acts more like a
machine than you think. When we visualize wellness, our bodies “use”
chemicals to do what we’re asking it to do. The trick is getting the body’s
attention. Humankinds confusion and dispute is always about the spiritual
way we get there not the bodies mechanical way of doing it. There is no
dispute about how the body mechanically fixes itself. Everyone knows what
good health is but disagree on how to get there.

-Yes it did, by not eating the foods that were poisoning me. My
stomach doesnt have the acid problems anymore and other things have
gotten better also. My reflux was so bad most nights I had to sit in
a chair and sleep upright. Also I couldnt sleep on my side because I
would almost get sick. But do it slowly, take one step at a time. I
believe its a life long goal. And for me it didnt take me overnight
to become the food person I was,and this is getting better with
cravings and things I thought I couldn’t live without, I now can. I
started this June . I have lost 40lbs since march of this year and
over all 56lbs total. My goal is 80lbs when Im finish. But mostly
this is for health reasons.

<< I guess I wish that somehow magically my menu would appear before
me and I would like everything on it and all the food for it would be in my
cupboard. Silly, huh?
Not at all. When you wake up in the hospital, the pantry is filled for you.
The only hurry you’re in is to hear what the doctor has to say. You’ll get
all kinds of well intentioned people telling you all kinds of things and the
only difference is that you’re the one who’s dying. You won’t know what to
believe. What you’ll hear is mostly wrong. It’s a very scarey time. Spare
yourself. Take the time now. Fix your food the night before or don’t eat.
It is hard. If you wait until you really get sick, it’s just as hard. It’s
just like quitting smoking. Let me tell you how easy it was to quit smoking
with a rock on your chest. Only took me 32 years. Now I wonder what was
wrong with me. Don’t be a fool like I was. Sorry that I sound so passionate
about this but I know exactly where you are and I want to reach you. I’ve
seen too many people die or have strokes because they just don’t have a clue.
You want to wait until you’re chasing antibiotics and your immune system is
shredded to pieces by well meaning doctors? Taking antidepressants because
you aren’t getting any better? Watching a staff infection that they can’t
heal slowly climb up your leg as they alternate antibiotics that destroy your
immune system.
Your body is trying to tell you something. It will get your attention sooner
or later. Finally got my attention, only took me 4 years to get to a place
where I can see where I need to go to just get back to where I was when my
body started talking to me. Trust me. Someday you’ll remember this email.
Be smart. This diet works. Do this. Don’t play with it. Get healthy so
you and yours can enjoy your time.

-I know its hard, nothing about this will be easy. It gets easier
the more you know and the food you choose. Im not 100% perfect but I
must try because the ultimate goal is I can play with my
Grandchildren and watch them grow up. Almost Two Years ago I was
heading for a wheelchair and maybe a home. I look at myself and
didnt like myself and how sick I was all the time. And no doctor,
friend or anyone could help me but me. I deceided I wanted to live
and choose what kind of life was I going to have not my body or
someone dictating to me how I was going to live. I know the donuts
are easy I was there also, I had a girl in my office that could eat
anything she wanted and didnt gain an ounce. But I would eat and it
showed. I got up to 212lbs, three pounds less than my husband. This
is the first time that I can say Im proud of myself and no one did it
but me. So hang in there, dont give up, it takes time. Like I said
before you didnt get that way overnight and you wont lose it either.
But you will start to feel better and things will get better for
you. Hang in there and by the way Im only 44 and I have had 18
surgeries on my body to keep me going. And this surgery doesnt hurt
and the recovery time is wonderful. Take care Linda

<< I am having a hard time with breakfast ideas. I
would like to have something that is easy, that I can just grab and go with.
Something I don’t need to cook and something that is breakfast.
Some already prepared foods you can grab are Hard boiled eggs, thermos/cup of
beef broth, tea, vegetables, rice puffs, left over steak, soup, etc. There
are many baked egg dishes you can fix the night before and pop in the
microwave at work. Take a protein snack to eat when you want that donut.
I know that many on this list disagree with me but what worked for me was
immediate, complete compliance. I’m a little obsessive-compulsive. To nibble
away at it is to lose because that donut is always there and if you’re going
to have just a small piece of candy or a little sandwich why not the donut.
Before you know it, it’s a box of donuts with milk or coffee to wash it down
and a Big Mac on the way home. Then it’s you talking to someone about this
great diet you failed at 6 months ago. Believe me. I do it all the time.
It is so easy to fall off of the diet. The difference between you and me is
that I know what WELL feels like. Not being well is uncomfortable to me. So
I quit cheating. You don’t know the difference because you haven’t gone 100%
yet. Wait until you go a week without any reflux or bloated feeling. It’s
like getting oxygen.
People with the “except fors” tickle me. They’re on the diet EXCEPT FOR
coffee or ice cream or potatoes or etc. The trouble is that if you’re
constantly eating an avoid you’re not feeling the full benefits of the diet
or the extent of the damage. I am an “except for” off and on. My killer is
coffee. It beckons me if I’m tired. It’s in every office building, workshop,
and most homes. The difference is that I know it and fight it. Since I
fight it, it’s a seriously bad avoid for me and makes me sicker than a dog.
I could peel paint with the stomach acid. If I constantly drank it, it
wouldn’t effect me nearly as much because my body would adjust to it. I’d
just feel tired and a little sick at the end of the day. The damage would
still be being done; I’d just not notice as much. You’d think I’d figure it
out. I do it infrequently now and will beat it eventually.
Regina, this diet is hard at first. We have to find and cook our own foods.
Examine every morsel we eat, avoid restaurants, friends concoctions, parties,
bars, processed foods, etc. You have to go to the HFS. “Periphery” shop at
the grocery (around the outside–LOL). You have to be committed but once you
feel the health come back you won’t even notice the extra work. It’s a long
journey, take that first step.

Regina, Do you have a George Forman Grill? I can cook an nice meal with
my grill in 5 min or less. Throw on the meat, make a salad, steam
veggies in the micro. Quick and easy! Some days I just throw everything
in my crockpot and rush out the door. And when I get home it is ready! I
also have no time for breakfast so I make Spritein protein drink with
rice milk, pour it in a paper cup and drink it on my way to work. Lunch
is usually a salad or left overs from last night.

What made you think that the diet was bad.
That is like saying (if some one gave you the winning #) - I don’t want

Get on the diet and allow your body to be loved.

Regina, yes they do make Ezekial tortillas. They don’t roll as nicely as wheat,
but they have a nice hearty flavor. I’ve also been using rice wraps, round like
tortillas, very thin - an Asian thing, from Viet Nam and Thailand I think. I
buy these at the Asian market. All you have to do is soak it in water for a few
minutes and it is ready to use.
