Phlegm

Monday, May 15th, 2006

What causes the phlegm that immediately forms in my vocal chords just
after eating some foods? For example, about 10 minutes after just
drinking a smoothie (frozen blueberries & cherries, banana, water &
protein powder)? It happens with other foods as well, I just wasn’t
sure what causes it and if it is a sign of anything.

Links

Monday, May 15th, 2006

Did you guys know there is a “Links” section on the group home page?
I think members can add any urls they want. You can even group them
in a folder. Just a suggestion. Then we all can find these valuable
links at any time. Instead of trying to search the archives. My 2ยข.

Tilefish

Sunday, May 14th, 2006

Found some Tilefish at the store (a new item). Grilled it with some dill,
butter, salt and garlic and ate it. It was delicious!! I’m not a big salt
water fish eater so it was a real surprise to me.

Concerns

Sunday, May 14th, 2006

I’m a member here, but don’t want to give out my identity as you
usually know me. The problem? Today I had several very woozy/dizzy
feelings and my face has felt warm. I eat only beneficials and a
few neutrals. I weigh 220 and am about 5-9. Would high blood
pressure cause the face to be flush or the dizziness? It was almost
a heavy feeling. I was never nautious and my sinus’ were clear, in
fact I still had good energy, but the dizziness/wooziness would come
and go.
A couple of other notes. I found some frozen Guava puree (100% the
the natural fruit juice and pul nothing else) and let it thaw over
night and then kept it in the frig. I’ve used it in a smoothie the
las three or four days. Would it be bad from just not being
refrigerated? The hot feeling in my face did not correspond with a
rise in body temperature. I haven’t been exercising, so I know I
must do that again. I’ve had little dizziness/wooziness in the head

Winter Flu/Cold Protection

Saturday, May 13th, 2006

OK, what does everybody do for protection against cold and Flu? I expect to
travel a lot and be around non-BTD compliant, coughing, sneezing people and
would like to “insulate” my self as much as possible from all those germs.
What is your favorite elixer/herb/vitamin/etc?

To determine the effect of a 6-month very low carbohydrate diet
program on body weight and other metabolic parameters.
Fifty-one overweight or obese healthy volunteers who wanted to
lose weight were placed on a very low carbohydrate diet (<25
g/d), with no limit on caloric intake. They also received nutritional
supplementation and recommendations about exercise, and
attended group meetings at a research clinic. The outcomes
were body weight, body mass index, percentage of body fat

con’t carb discussion

Friday, May 12th, 2006

Ann,
Thanks for reminding us of your lifestyle issues (travel, eating out). My
lifestyle is similar, so I understand that we are often trying to figure out
meal-to-meal, what we can eat, and it’s almost impossible to plan ahead, as we
don’t know what will be available when we get there. I just try to make the
best decisions.
You mentioned feeling hyper when you don’t eat some starchy vegetables. When I
first started ER, I tried to be on a all HB diet for a few weeks. I had to back
off, and use neutrals (and I wasn’t yet ready to give up some avoids, like a
little ice cream). My friend Susan, who had introduced me to ER, had the theory
that the foods that are HB are more than just food, they are medicinal in value,
as they promote healing. She made the suggestion that eating all HB was almost
like being on drugs all day. Even if they’re “good for you”, my body was
overloading on all the actions these foods were taking in my system. I
certainly found it easier to phase in the HB foods over time, as I phased out

It looks like I finally busted my computer. I’m going to have to send
it in for repairs tomorrow, so I will be out of commission for several
days. I hope that everyone is well while I’m “gone.” In the meantime,
if you really need to get in touch with me for some reason, ask Axel.
Cheers,
Ryan
