aloe etc (topical avoids)

Sunday, April 30th, 2006

Heidi addressed topical avoids recently in her “On The Diet” column:
Topical Avoids?
I am an O+ secretor. This question may seem a bit granular, but I don’t want
to sabotage my good diet efforts by doing something unknowingly. My question
is about foot cream. I just purchased a foot cream which is 60% aloe. It
really is a great cream but, my understanding is, aloe is an avoid for O. In
thinking about it, I started to be concerned if the aloe from the cream
would be absorbed into my body enough to cause problems (in light of hormone
and stop smoking dermal patches using the skin as a delivery system.) Any
thoughts? P.S. Kudos for your column. It’s the first thing I check every
morning and has been so very helpful. ~ debra

aloe etc

Sunday, April 30th, 2006

I wouldn’t even use aloe externally ! it’s a pet peeve of mine that it’s in
so many skin + shampoo products. does anyone have a substitute suggestion
for condensed milk? or a good pumpkin pie recipe? what sea salt is
best? the only kind I can find is non-iodized… should we seek iodized?
thanks all! Leslie

Pumpernickel

Saturday, April 29th, 2006

Does anyone have an idea why Pumpernickel is an avoid? I looked at the
ingredients and it looks like they are all OK. As a nonnie, it is difficult ot
get bread and yet I need some complex carbs. Most rye bread sold has wheat flour
in it but the pumpernickel that I have, does not.
I am assuming it is a complex carb…I guess that owould depend on the glycemic
index?
I really need help with finding some recipes for complex carbs. As a nonnie,
lentil soup is a possibility. Can anyone tell me what I would have with it to
make a balanced meal? Also recipes would be good altho I may have some
here…some of my kids are A’s and vegetarian (mostly) so there may be books
around still.
Thanks, Ann

Has anyone had bad experiences with risotto rice? Twice now it made me as sick
as a dog. Nausea, flatulence and heartburn (which I never get).

some pumpkin recipes

Friday, April 28th, 2006

Here are a couple of pumpkin recipes. I am a secretor, and I am sorry to say
that I don’t know whether they would work for nonnnies or not. I have posted
them in the files, too.

Thanksgiving

Thursday, April 27th, 2006

It is Thanksgiving next weekend here in Canada and I’m wondering if anyone
has some suggestions for alternatives.
I’m planning on making a loaf of spelt bread (I don’t usually eat bread at
all) so I can make my own stuffing and I’ll buy a turkey breast and stuff
and cook it some time this week . . . then I can take my own stuffing when I
go to my Family Gathering. I will also make my own pumpkin custard without
the pastry. I’ll just skip the potatoes and gravy (or I might make my own
gravy as well with spelt flour).
Any other ideas how to deal with these traditional foods?
Thanks, Trish

When Face Was Face

Thursday, April 27th, 2006

Does anyone know if Litchi Fruit juice is beneficial, neutral or avoid
for Type O?

dude!!!

Dude!!!
Way back in ‘98 I smoked some datura!
I didn’t feel really far out until I got to the wicked bud, though… The dude I
was smoking up with told me that it took a lot of datura to get any groovy
effect.
Awesome!

P.S. anyone wanna guess how much steak tartar* I ate yesterday (Friday) during
my 10 hour shift?

Does anyone have an online source for Ezekiel bread flour? I’ve found some
online bakeries but no one selling the flour.

We ARE making ourselves sick

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

Thomas, you are so correct! As much as I promote the healthy diet and lifestyle
that I have learned from Dr. D., I also recognize that my greatest strides to
good health, peace and happiness have been mostly from “getting my head on
straight”. Too many of us look at the world and say “I’m right, you’re wrong”.
Too many of us look for quick fixes, and are willing to compromise our own
integrity and honesty in the process. Too many of us see our issues and
problems as someone else’s fault. Too many of us walk around feeling entitled
to…whatever! More and more of…Whatever! And yet don’t recognize that what
we want comes to us when we adopt attitudes of humility and openness. Yes, and
Ryan’s post from the other day was perfect. Enlightenment is all around us.
You do not need to “seek” it. It is usually hitting you over the head with a
sledge hammer, and THAT is why so many of us get sick. That enlightenment will
do whatever it has to do to get in. And with all due respect to Axel (and the
Biltong Gods), if marijuana helps you open up, that’s fine. Not that I don’t
indulge occasionally, but that is just for kicks. When I realized I needed to
