rantings and musings
Ryan, Max and “Lambchop”, your posts were great! I had no idea, when I started
ER, that this would be such a political issue. I was just looking for a healthy
lifestyle. Now that I’ve found it, and it works, I am astounded to discover
such forces at work to not only dissuade me from continuing to live and eat
healthfully, but also to stifle any attmepts to discuss this great discovery
with others. As we have all observed, there are many entities that have a stake
in promoting current bad eating habits.
The group I can have an empathy for is the vegan/vegetarian camp. True, they
are almost “religious” in their fervor, and they are quite overbearing. I
understand that these people are truly respectful of animal life, and would
really like to live in a world where all life is equally valuable.
Unfortunately, a-wishin’ and a-hopin’ it were so, do not really make it so. And
as with all very idealistic philosophies, there is still great ugliness in
shoving that point of view down everyone’s throat, in this case literally. I
understand these people, as distinct from food companies and political lobbies,
are truly motivated by a desire to creat a better world. I’m afraid their
vision rests on the belief that we can change or deny our biology.
Ultimately, the Blood Type/Low Carb message will get out, but it will probably
take a very long time to overcome the resistance.

For every one truly idealistic vegan who wants to make the world a better
place, I find 10 who just want to run everybodie’s life. It is where the
hall monitors and control freaks went after school was over.

Far more insects (and therefore animals) die in industrial agriculture
(even industrial organic agriculture) than die in the natural grassfed
grazing process of cows. This is a result of, as Axel says, “the grace
of our beasts.” Think about it. We kill one cow and eat for half a
year. They kill hundreds of insects with every loaf of bread. If all
animal lives are truly equal, as most vegans claim, then they are doing
far more damage than us.
Cheers,
Ryan

They need to come over to my house, make a loaf of bread and kill some of my
insects. How about all of the wildlife, fish, people and other critters
poisoned and killed by the fertilizers and insecticides used to protect all
of the crops? Isn’t it true that there is a dead zone of 250 miles at the
mouth of the Mississippi where no sealife lives because of the effluent
fertilizer that drains off of all of the fields upstream? Of course, the
vegans said it was from all of that natural, organic cow manure washing down
the river–LOL–yeah right.
Man cannot live in an environment of his own filth and, among other things,
we are slowly poisoning ourselves with plant fertilizers and garbage
recycling. Do you realize that recycling aluminum cans and paper generates 7
times the sludge it takes to just dispose of it?

OK Max,
This is the first I’ve heard of this. What kind of sludge are we
talking about? You’re going to have to substantiate a claim like that.
Please give us a reference.
Thanks,
Ryan

Will do. It’s been since I was studying Chemical engineering in school a
loooong time ago so I’ll have to do some research. The sludge is produced by
washing, reconstituting, and refining the metal back to useable aluminum.
Ditto for paper. Both processes generate a tremendous amount of sludge or
waste water that must be filtered/treated/diluted/disposed of.

Little late with the thought.
Anyway, not eating animals because they are living things is a stupid
sentiment. And a little one-sided. Plants (fruits, veggies, nuts even
grains) are living things, aren’t they. They even have various
senses. Plants kept in the house show different reactions to
different kinds of music and they even know when you talk to them and
care about them.
So it would be a just thing to cut out eating plants, wouldn’t it,
the only question is if we want to die of hunger …
I certainly will go on eating all my O body requires.
