Atkins/ER4YT/cheating

There has been a discussion thread about applying ER principles to Atkins, for
faster weight loss, and people are having great success with this. In the past,
so have I.
I acknowledge the reality of cheating, I love ice cream, and do have a little
every week. It is true, as people have pointed out, there is room for cheating
on these diets. You can cheat quite a bit, and still lose weight handily.
PLEASE REMEMBER: Dr. Atkins is about losing weight ONLY, and ER is about
MAXIMIZING YOUR HEALTH. One of the components of good health is maintaining an
ideal body weight, and the ER diet will put you there, albeit more gradually.
BUT THE AVOIDS WILL RUIN YOUR HEALTH, if you eat them all the time. You may not
gain weight, but you can still destroy your digestive system, mess up your
thyroid, liver and kidneys, exacerbate pre-existing injuries and health
conditions, your skin and hair will be dull, you will lack energy, you will be
VERY constipated, etc.
This ER group is supposed to be about good health. It is not about getting thin

at any cost, nor is about abusing oneself to meet society’s standards of beauty,
at the expense of a sensible lifestyle. I find this thread to be disturbing.
When you cheat, who are you cheating against? I know when I cheat, I am not
“cheating on Dr. D’Adamo”. He has no idea what I’m doing, and probably doesn’t
give a hoot. I know I am only cheating myself, and that consistent cheating
will rob ME of good health and vitality. So I do keep it to a minimum, and
certainly don’t use a Good Health-oriented group to advertise consistent
cheating, how to cheat, bragging about cheating and still getting skinny, etc.
Please think about why we exchange information here, what our goals are, and the
positive encouragement we offer to each other, in a carbo & anti-meat society
and scientific community, trying to pursue a healthy lifestyle, and get at the
information we need.

You are so right Jacqueline, but he is still our Axel. You have to be
careful what you say or he will threaten to lash you with a wet noodle (oops,
maybe not, that is an avoid, unless it is spelt). Buried in his verbose
passages are several gems, you just have to dig for them.
