Seaweed Broth - how to make?

Sunday, February 12th, 2006

Sarah and Ann,
The Seaweed broth recipes were posted on the O-NS list. Frances
Holly posted both recipes, some of us know her affectionately as
Fran the baker. I have included both recipes below along with
the Kale broth recipe. I am sure she wouldn’t mind sharing them
with the rest of the O community.

Fwd: [ER4YT-O-NS] A List for Gluten Free Flours

Hi steve, More questions …for you, Frances or anyone who knows.
Interesting - Where does it say to reduce fat like this??? I have been reading
Weight Management material from Greg Kelly (formerly with Dr. D) and he
encourages eating more of the good fats in order to lose weight…he says we
must have adequate “good fat” at every meal because fats trigger the satiety
signal in the body. I have increased my fats substantially and find I no longer
need to work at keeping weight down.
I would like to know more about weight loss and seaweed broth - I was unaware of
any connection between caocium and weight loss. I rather thought that the
effect of seaweed was that it stimulates the thyroid. Also wonder how it helps
with the metabolism of lipids.
NOTE: I’ve lighten up in the use of oils, allowing myself 2 tsps. per day or
less. The George Foreman Griller has been a great help. In my recipes you
will begin to see this too.
For anyone interested in losing weight, start drinking Seaweed Broth, for its

Wheat allergy/O avoid

Saturday, February 11th, 2006

Amy,
I don’t know if I am truly ‘allergic’ to wheat or not - as I
have never been tested. However, I started this WOE because I
had some problems I needed to address - one of them was eczema.
Well after being on the diet for a few months, the eczema went
away. Then, as we all do, I cheated a little with wheat -
whammy, the eczema was back. Spelt does not affect me, nor does
rye. I eat Ezekial bread all the time. If you are near a Trader
Joe’s, they carry a really good rice cracker. Hope your dad is
willing to give it a try.

Hi,
Can anyone please recommend what to use in a recipe that uses double or
single cream. I have a wonderful recipe but it uses double cream!
Thanks

How cool! There are a lot of us out there. I have to include my maiden

My middle name is Elizabeth too and I was born in Richmond, VA. Just thought
that was a neat coincidence. :) Sarah W

Don’t get upset Axel. I am sure that some of the newer people aren’t as

If the answer is ‘8 oz.’, my apologies for density.
The question is.. when a portion size says 8 oz. cooked, what’s that
roughly equivalent to raw?

I’ve heard people say to do it on different days. Those are probably
the traditionalists… I’d experiment, personally!

Why does steak give me immediate energy?

Wednesday, February 8th, 2006

Hi all. It’s been ages since I posted. Anyway, I’ve noticed
something. When I have a steak - and possibly to lesser degree lamb -
before I’m even finished at the table my fatigue is gone, I feel
better and I have energy.
I know protein doesn’t metabolize NEARLY that quickly. But I’m
wondering if anyone else experiences the same thing - and also what
one could potentially attribute it toward?
Please don’t say placebos - I’m allergic :) ….
There’s not anything else that tends to give me this deep, immediate,
sustaining pickup. Not protein shakes, certainly not carbohydrates,
etc.
I notice this particularly on an empty stomach.
