rude to diet in public?

Saturday, February 25th, 2006

What an interesting article. Laura Fraser has (inadvertantly) highlighted the
biggest challenge of following an eating plan that deviates from “the normal”
American diet. We can all be compliant at home, or taking meals to work, where
we have only ourselves to please. Going out to restaurants is ok too, on the O
diet, I can always order a salad and a main course of meat and veg, and leave
the carb (potato, etc.) uneaten. It is no big deal in that setting to skip
dessert.
Eating at a friend’s house or social function is trickier. At my own home, I
have found the best solution is to serve food buffet-style. Everyone, including
me, can help themselves to whatever they like, and they don’t feel a need to
justify the fact that they’re not eating everything. That only seems to happen
if food is served at the table, where everyone sees what one is or is not
taking. I put stuff on the buffet that I don’t intend to eat. For instance,
many of my friends don’t think it’s really dinner without dinner rolls. Fine, I
put them out, and I don’t have any. Guests who aren’t eating everything will

Caroline Myss

Friday, February 24th, 2006

Anne,
You mentioned Caroline Myss a while ago, and I have to tell you that I really
enjoy her work, and went on a streak of Caroline Myss reading and listening to
tapes (all borrowed from the public library, too!)
And, not only that, but recently, while in the shower (where I receive so much
of my deeper inspiration!) I thought of her Chakra work…
Well, I seemed to tap into a new understanding of its meaning… and its
progression through our lives… and how, focussing on these food groups takes
us into certain chakras, until eventually we progress to higher levels… How
chakras are another way in which our awareness is defined (for me, this was in
addition to my recent realization of how different people have different
intelligences, and how, consequently, we all see the world so differently!)…
This also has implications for working with elementary students (which I do!)
All very interesting, stuff, and I feel excited to realize that I am progressing
in my chakra levels… This means to me that certain awarenesses that have been

combining diets

Actually, Joe, if you do want to combine diets, I think it would be very
practical to sit down and write out some lists, combining the two together.

.Raw Meat/Eggs

Thursday, February 23rd, 2006

Hi there, My daughter is home from Europe for a visit and is asking me about
raw meat…carpaccio (sp?) - Italian, she thinks and Kipinayeh (sp?) beef? -
Lebanese?
Her partner (unknown blood type for the moment) feels really good on uncooked
meats and he craves meat but does not feel good on cooked meat. We are wondering
what the difference is? I will be very curious to know his blood type.
Also is it safe to be eating these uncooked meats in restaurants. Anyone know
the answers to any of this? Also the correct spellings?
While I am at it?….what are the dangers in eating raw egg? I regularly put 2
free range eggs in my homemade “shake”…haven’t had any problems yet.
Thanks, Ann

pH Question - Moderation will help

Thursday, February 23rd, 2006

Hi Ann,
LB used to test my blood 4 times a year and looked at things like
sodium, portassium, chloride, ionized calcium, etc.
My anion/cation ratio was 19 when I started in 4/94. They reduced it
to normal in 30 days using milk with electrolyte liquids, diet,
ammonium chloride, etc.
Anabolic imbalance [alkaline] is not unusual, but it may be less
prevalent that catabolic imbalances.
I’m doing pretty well on my own up in this small town rural area in
NH. I was on the ER4YT for 6 months from 1/02 to 7/02, then did the
SCDiet [very similar to the O diet], and now I think I’m going to do
ER / caveman diet, or very close to Paleo / ER4YT.
It’s probably not a big deal. I guess I kind of freak out when I run
into a road obstacle and have to make another diet decision. I surf
the web a lot and get a lot on my mind sometimes. Most of the time the

international fish names

Thursday, February 23rd, 2006

Dear All,
I am living in the Netherlands and I am having trouble figuring out which
fish types are allowed and which should be avoided. Does anyone have any
idea how I can compare the names of fish in different countries ?
One specific fish type I would like to check now (because I have already
bought it), does anyone know whether plaice (in Dutch: schol) is allowed?
best wishes,
Mohammed

pH Question/greens drink

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2006

<<BTW, dh, an O is looking for a greens drink and was just saying that he
was going to miss his (Udo’s?) Beyond Greens…Wondering what type you are
using!
I really like Dr. D’Adamo’s “Harmonia” green drink. It’s blood-type
friendly and seems to give me a burst of energy. I add it to egg protein
powder to make my morning breakfast shake.

More to health and happiness….

(Oops! Forgot to clip last time I sent my message off! Sorry! That’s probably
why I find individual messages easier to manage! ;-) Yes, Ann, thanks for your response.
I certainly know that what you are saying is true! And thanks for expressing
it, even though you thought you might be lambasted which, well, I do not suspect
is true…
No, it is true so true….
Here’s something else to add in to the mix…
It depends what you are doing with your body, in a sense… If you are
developing an extremely sensitive instrument (for whatever reasons…) then,
perhaps, noting and responding to each sensitivity is the way to go… On the
other side, if you are making your way about socially (trying to say this in a
neutral manner rather than slanting in favour as in talking about ‘community’
and ‘relationships’), then its best to be able to ‘break bread’ together.
Some of us have suspicions that we are loners or fringe types, while others feel

pH Question

Tuesday, February 21st, 2006

I think you said it all here, Joe. I would agree that this is the way to go!
Even as a type A on the bt and scd, I eat a surprising amount of protein
(salmon, pickerel, organic chicken & eggs, mainly — if I were an O I would have
some of that wonderful grass fed beef that dh is always having!)
What else makes you alkaline?
Which fruits and dried fruits? What about nuts and seeds? (I also eat a lot of
nuts…)

More animal protein, less vegetables are probably the way for me to
lean towards since I’m not supposed to eat any or much grain, or
legumes.
