Dear Renee, head for Atkins and tweak it
Hi Renee,
Saw your plea about weight loss several posts back–have just been trying to
catch up after weeks away from site–so don’t know what other advice you
got…
November last year I was 112 pounds overweight–I wasn’t getting along too
well with ER because I thought I could get away with eating spelt rice etc
so stumbled onto Atkins site and have lost 1/3 of the weight I have to
lose…You will have to tweak the diet cutting out avoids that Atkins says
are alright because they aren’t for your blood type–you know that
already–Atkins says don’t count calories or fat BUT after a month my weight
stopped coming off and by that time I could tell when I had eaten too many
carbs or fat–I generally go with 1 tb spoonful of homemade dressing with
salad–using olive or flax oil, lemon juice, freshly ground coriander,
unrefined sea salt, pepper, parsley, basil, and a clove of garlic [add
anything else you want or what suits you]if I am stir frying or cooking meat
I put a tb of oil in–try to put some water in the pan and the oil on top
so it doesn’t hydrogenate–I also have a tb of flax seeds and tb of mixed
seeds in the morning for elimination–I drink 1 oz of water for every pound
I weigh–[ go to to the water.cure website for more info] also a pinch of
unrefined seasalt with every pint of water, or else water will leave your
body like pouring it through the sieve [ I used to have VERY swollen feet
and ankles so I gave up using salt at all, now I have the right kind of salt
and have NO problem with swelling AT ALL].
I also have 10 almonds as a snack twice a day–I tried fruit but carbs were
too high and candida went wild. I have a slab of meat, fish or poultry and
salad and steamed veg for dinner, meat and salad for lunch, chicken or fish
for breakfast and my two snacks. I don’t eat anything after dinner, and once
a week I have fruit and cream as a treat, but I pay for it with indigestion.
My blood pressure is high and I think this might be a sensitivity to
arachnidic acid found in the fat of red meat and eggs, so I have tried to
eat fish for breakfast and cut red meat down to once or twice a week.
I also take gelatine powder which has helped A LOT with problems with my
feet back and knees.
I would have lost the weight a LOT faster if I stayed on the diet but I keep
falling off, we go out at least once a week to for meals sometimes three
times a week–I am SO sensitive to wheat that one mouthful will send me on a
three day binge before I get it under control again. I also think my
relapses are my body being scared of losing one of its most powerful coping
mechanisms and I am finding ways to cope so my body can let go of the fat.
On last warning, Renee–your body will let go of this weight when it feels
that it is safe to do so–respect it and make sure you are doing everything
you can to support it by facing and dealing with issues that might be
forcing your body to hold on to this extra weight.
Hope this helps.

Hi Mary,
What would you eat in a normal day for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks
when combining Atkins with O?

Hi Mary & Kae,
When I was having problems losing my last 10 lbs., I used “granular
kelp” on my steaks, etc. And it wasn’t even the kind that Dr. D.
specified. It made a difference.
I also have been following low-carb.
Yet I eat my fruit seperate (food combining) in the mornings….FOR
MY DESSERT. I feel deprived otherwise.
Good luck,
Gaye

Thanks, Mary.
I will have to try it. Do you cheat often, and if so, what would you cheat
on? It sounds like you have had a lot of success.
