Digest Number 1199
Thanks Mark - I wholeheartedly agree!!
****I’m de-lurking to ask all those writing in if might consider learning to
cut off their messages headers and tails when they reply. If you
subscribe to the list in DIGEST form, you will know what I mean. We
DIGEST readers see this over and over and over
(Read between **** lines):
This was repeated ***14 times*** in the last digest.
When repeated OVER and OVER in the DIGEST, it’s sometimes hard to make
out what is a new post and what is not.
If you are a member who gets individual messages, when you click REPLY,
you copy the WHOLE MESSAGE- headers, tails and all into a new message. If
you leave it all there (As many here are doing) it really clutters up in
a DIGEST.
One step further, if you cut away some of the previous message, to just
what part of a post you are replying to. This may help get a point across
a lot better.
People are generally adverse to change, and I don’t want to make waves,
but it would help me and others be better able to read through all the
messages. If anyone can do this, it only takes a moment to highlight a
section and hit ALT-X to cut it out.
If you have any further questions as to how to do this, feel free to
contact me off-list and I’ll share.
This is a knowledgable and helpful group. I hope to have some BLOOD TYPE
DIET questions and ask for some guidance in the near future.
Thanx,
Mark

Nope, I’m not talking about directly injecting food in to the bloodstream.
This is for all those suffering with digest readability problems. Most
people used the digest to keep their inbox from being flooded with emails.
However, digest is awkward to read and sort by subject/thread/author.
I subscribe to around 20 email lists, all single emails. But it only takes
me around 5-15 minutes a day to keep up with all of them. I use an email
client (Outlook, though Eudora and other work well also) that applies a rule
when the message enters my inbox, then moves it, unread, to it’s own folder.
There I can read them at my leisure, sort/filter by subject thread, sender,
date etc. And archive for later use. Much faster than wading through the
digest and far more useful.

Hey Stephen, hows about you tell us other Outlook people how to do
this? As in: where to scroll down from menu bar, where to click,
command names, etc. etc. etc. ‘Cause right now my inbox is a 1,000+
message mess!
