High dose fish oil made me sick
Hi,
Someone told me that fish oil was said to cause candida to
grow, but it didn’t
make sense to me so I had to find out for myself.
I started taking 15 capsules of fish oil daily [180 mg. EPA
and 120 mg. of DHA
per capsule] on 5/24. The food craving it caused was from
yeast die-off, I
presumed. I gained a few pounds but noticed too that my
facial eczema got
worse, and one day became constipated so I took an enema
and realized that
candida was constipating my GI tract - from taking fish
oil.
So, it’s another try and fail supplement for me.
Does anyone know why fish oil did this to me?
Probably because I’m an O non?
I’m OK eating fish. I guess the way I’ll have to get Omega
3s is from fish, grass
fed bovine, DHA eggs, etc.
I’m really not sure if I should try to take fish oil in
capsules, even at a lower dose.
Dr. D said in LR4YT that O nons don’t benefit as much from
oils as others do.
We need to get EFAs from food. That’s another reason why
it’s not good to eat
more than a handful of nuts or seeds daily.
I’m taking black currant seed oil in hopes that it’ll improve my facial
eczema [90 mg. GLA per capsule - 3 capsules daily].
Take care,
Joe R.

Tom -
I appreciate the input here.
You could very well be right about this but I’ve spent a lot of money
on supplements that either didn’t work or made me ill, so I’ll
probably not take any more chances on supps in the near future.
I’m going to keep eating all of the natural Omega 3 food sources I can
[except flax oil] and keep my fingers crossed.
Diet may do it for me after a while. I think it helps because I don’t
eat processed foods or Omega 6 oils.
Best wishes,
Joe R.
