Potato Juice for HEARTBURN

Sunday, December 18th, 2005

WELL, here i go again:
“Potato juice helps reduce stomach acid
and heal gastrointestinal inflammation
because it contains conpounds that coat the lining of the stomach.
“Use a juicer to extract the juice from 1-2 large potatoes
(with the skins).
“Take 3-4 tbsp. of the juice half an hour before meals.
“If you do not like the taste of potato juice when taken straight,
mix it with another veg. juice (such as carrot or beet)
or add it to soup.”

The Complete Guide to Natural Healing…)
Note: It would cost you $660
for 1,000 cards of their collection

Potato Remedy for Inflammation

Sunday, December 18th, 2005

…also from the Nature’s Remedies “cards”:
Bear with me since I’m a “common sense-type” person.
“Raw potatoes for inflammation (This was for yellow, white & blue
potatoes).
“The cooling effect of raw potato slices brings fast relief
from swelling (and itching) caused by contact dermatitis and insect
bites.
“The slices are also effective for bruises as well as sties
that occur on the eyelids.
“Peel and slice apotato and apply a slice to the affected skin
until the potato warms up. Repeat as necessary.”
Good for the Summertime “bugs”….hehe,

Potato skin TEA

Sunday, December 18th, 2005

ok, here it goes:
Something I found on “Nature’s Remedies” card, received recently….
don’t hold me to this info since I haven’t tried it myself.
“To improve liver function…
A tea made from potato skin can relieve gall bladder problems,
thereby enhancing the liver’s ability to clear waste products and
toxins from the body.
“To prepare, peel a large potato and boil the skin
in 1 cup of water for 5 mins.
“Strain & drink the brew.”
OKAY, now I this is for white, yellow & blue potatoes,
but can’t see why it would not work for Sweet Potatoes, too.

Beef Jerky

Saturday, December 17th, 2005

I use the round steak, sometimes called London Broil, 1-2 lbs. Thaw
it partially then slice across the grain fairly thin. Put it in a
container with some wheat-free tamari, garlic juice, and I put
pineapple juice and some red pepper flakes. Marinate it over night,
then put in the dehydrator on high. I got mine at Wal-Mart for $39,
and I love it. Will look up the name when I get home. It only takes 4-
5 hours and mine is done. I fix it on Mon and it’s gone by Thu or
Fri. Yum!

rash and exercise

Saturday, December 17th, 2005

I started getting a rash on one arm pit a few weeks back. Now I’m
getting it on the other. I got this one time, years ago, when I used
that crystal deoderant. I’m using the Lavender Hemp Oil Crystal roll-
on deo (for many months). Think I’m having that same reaction? It’s
weird, itchy, but doesn’t erupt in anything. <sigh
go back on the ultra mild chamomile deo I used to use. Dang.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Oh yeah, I started a walking program 10 weeks ago and have lost 20+
lbs so far! I still eat the way I have been for the past 6 months or
so (ER), so I encourage all of you non-exercisers, just DO IT!

Calcium - When to take?

Friday, December 16th, 2005

Hello All!
A friend just told me that you shouldn’t take calcium supplements with other
multi-vitamins because they inhibit absorption. Since I use Dr. D’s
Phytocal which comes from a natural source, I was hoping that this wouldn’t
be an issue since I have also heard that calcium needs to be taken at least
four hours after my thyroid medication. At this rate, I’ll only be able to
take it once a day before I go to bed! (Which, yet another friend told me
was an excellent time to take it, but I need to take it more than once a
day.)
So I’m turning to you experts for some guidance on when it’s ok to take it
and make sure it gets properly absorbed.
Thanks!

Vanilla Extract

Wednesday, December 14th, 2005

Just read the label off my bottle….
and triggered this posting based on a “pure extract” recipe in the
Food Section of our local newspaper.
First, the recipe called for 4 pliable & aromatic vanilla beans
& 2 cups of vodka.
The bottle showed “corn syrup”….yipes.

Agile vert

Tuesday, December 13th, 2005

oh wait a moment - I remember that my son’s homeopatic doctor gave him
agile vert some years ago against inflammation - it is, as Kae said,
green klay - we got it as onguent, not to eat, but it is against
inflammation, soothing etc.
