As a spice, turmeric is (for O's):
BENEFICIAL: Contains component which either blocks polyamine synthesis
or lowers indican levels.
Non-secretors: NEUTRAL
(p. 549 of the Encyclopedia and TYPEbase)
As a standardized supplement (95% curcuminoids), turmeric has
anti-inflammatory effects. There are just better options for that
purpose for O's (glucosamine, Joshua Tree, Ginger Root, and Cayenne
pepper), so Dr. D didn't include us on the p. 578 list.

In the encyclopedia pg. 578,
Tumeric is not suggested for O's as a supplement,
only for B & AB's.
Yet, in LR4YT & encyclopedia pg. 549
it is listed as Beneficial/Neutral - Tier 2.
- oh, as a herb !
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHICH IS CORRECT, PLEASE?
This is getting confusing.

Now that bananas and the like are clear, here I'm coming with another
one I've been wondering about for a while now.
Yucca on the vegetable list is an avoid. ( I cannot get it as a
veggie.)
If you go to the supplement list, it is there for us as an anti-
inflammation agent. (If I remember rightly.)
Isn't it the same thing, the leaves of the yukka plant?
When I took it (more than a year ago now) I got small red spots all
over me so I gave up.
What's your opinion/experience?
Thanks, Rose/Hun

It looks you are convinced now, so that's what I should be.
Now you can have a laugh at me, for more than half an hour I tried to
draw my blood in the afternoon to do the test with the banana and
then I gave up deciding I will have to wait for the next time I'm
bleeding...
I am lucky to have you and not even having to wait for that. So let's
go ahead with the yummies!

Just reading the new book and have found discrepancy in the section on
Lectins Page 348. In each blood group are listed avoids which when
checking the food base section these are not the same. My group O e.g.-
Caviar,walnuts,eggplant,blueberries,bananas.papayas are either neutral
or beneficial listed in the food base. Can anyone clarify this for me
please?
It's an error. One of only three we've found..

Confusion With Type O Food Ratings

HI!
I was reading page 348 in the "Encyclopedia", and I noticed a
contradiction; unlike the food tables in the back of the book,
blueberries/papaya and bananas are rated as avoids for O non-secretors.
What's up? Which listing is correct?
(there is blueberrry in my New Chapter probiotic, for instance).

Hi, this has been raised twice now. Once by me. The answer is page 348
type O and 349 type B are errors. We should ignore those and rely on the
food base listing in the back of the encyclopedia.

I am reading your latest book, the Blood type encyclopedia. The
additional information is excellent, however I have a question. Please
clarify. On page 348 of the encyclopedia under Group O specific lection,
you state that group O should avaid among other foods, walnuts, bananas
and papayas, however in your first book and in the Blood group food base
you list these foods as beneficial or neutral. Please let me know which
is correct. Thank you

I would also like to know the answer to the statement on page 348

Rh-positive (in the next sentence), making bananas, papayas, and
blueberries into 'Avoids"? I have been eating a lot of all these items.

If you knew what Catherine and Peter went through to get it in on time,
you'd understand that there will be some typos. We'll address them as
they come up. I was standing by for proofing, but could only get one
section and the lists before it had to be submitted to the publisher.
Them's the breaks. It was that, or not get it in at all.
We appreciate any notes you offer on mistakes you see. And while in a

getting more imperfect every day.

I'm not at home, so I can't get to a book right now. Having said that, I
would not be surprised that there are a few typos in the book. It is
just the sheer odds of it occurring. The encylopedia had three different
copyeditors (shall we say Putnam-Penguin wanted it FAST!) and we did
make a great effort to keep them honest. My favirite was 'helicopter
pylorii.'
Some times (like the 'weekly' fruit ration in LR) you can do everything
perfect and the typesetter screws up on you.
These things get sorted out in revision.
I'll take a look and post back in a day or two. Sounds like the walnuts
and blueberries should have been a beneficial rather than an avoid.
Typically, those are typesetter errors.
Having said that given the volume of material I've actually found very
few things that I have any issues with.

Under Group O specific lectins WALNUTS are listed as an AVOID for O's.
Rh positive O's should avoid blueberries, bananas, and papayas.
The information in the blood group food base at the back of the book has
the correct information, unless something has changed. Are we going to
have an errata site for the encyclopedia?
The info in this book is incredible. What an undertaking it must have

inconsistency but I don't want to follow information that might have

Or are they really beneficial like we thought?
And as an Rh+ with *FIVE* bags of wild blueberries in the freezer and 2
bananas on top of the fridge, I want to know what is the accurate
information?
And are eels an O avoid now? They are listed in the back as neutral for
Os (as they are listed in ER4YT and LR4YT), and yet page 348 states that
Os should avoid them. Say it ain't so! Sushi will never be the same if I

The info in this book is incredible. What an undertaking it must have
been to put all this together. I’m sorry to point out a possible
inconsistency but I don’t want to follow information that might have
inadvertently been given.
Verna, I noticed that, too!
In Response To: Dr D. I found several major errors… (Verna O+)
But where is the mistake? Are walnuts really an avoid for us after all?
Or are they really beneficial like we thought?
And as an Rh+ with *FIVE* bags of wild blueberries in the freezer and 2
bananas on top of the fridge, I want to know what is the accurate
information?
And are eels an O avoid now? They are listed in the back as neutral for
Os (as they are listed in ER4YT and LR4YT), and yet page 348 states that
Os should avoid them. Say it ain’t so! Sushi will never be the same if I
can’t have unagi!
Cassandra
unagi, anago, we all scream for..
I can vouch for the food charts. There may be some error in the text.
If it’s the other way ’round, Peter mentioned he has quite a bit of free
time until the New Year, so I look forward to his comments here.

I agree with Tom, these new ratings cannot be simply mistakes.
Maybe they are new findings, just like e.g. kiwi was for LR.
If you look at all the other bloodgroups, you will find odd ratings
there, too.
From this perspective, we are really unlucky, Tom, to be both Rh+
and non-secretor.
Today Dr. D'Adamo restarts his answering feature, so we should
ask for further clarification. Would you do that, please?
(Looks like we have to part from bananas...)
