Speaking of broccoli

Thursday, October 27th, 2005

Make sure that the flowers (florets) are dark green, the darker the
better. Yellow broccoli is bad. Broccoli can take a lot of salt and
ghee. It takes much better that way. It also makes the vitamins,
minerals, and phytonutrients much more assimilable. Many of them are
fat soluble. I wouldn’t worry about ghee and weight loss. Your main
weight loss “issue” is carbs. Good fat is an essential source of energy
for O’s. Ghee is also great for your GI tract.

Hot drinks?

Tuesday, October 25th, 2005

Can you folks share what hot drinks you enjoy the best? I’ve been
pretty much been relying on Celestial Seasonings Black Cherry tea
since I gave up the coffee. I got some soy milk but hesitate to fix
hot chocolate. I like herbal teas. But with all the combinations, I
don’t want to make mistakes and neutralize the benefits I’ve been
feeling.
I saw the sasparilla posting and will look for some tea at the store
next time I shop. But right now, I’m just so sick of the cherry tea -
even though I love cherries. (And cherry season is right around the
corner. Yay!!!)

Rash

Monday, October 24th, 2005

My brother-in-law has a skin rash. Doctors have told him it is excema. When
he gets in any kind of heated water (like a bath or hot tube) it flares up
immediately and itches like crazy. Left unchecked, his legs will swell. It
never gets on his face, hands or upper back. Mainly on front torso, legs and
a little on his arms. He’s fouhgt this for about a year or so. Shockingly,
the doctors have not helped much except in reducing his bank account.
Any ideas or miracle cures out there?

keeping brocolli

Sunday, October 23rd, 2005

I love brocolli. Here is what I do with it until I am ready to use it:
I trim the ends of the stems/stalks about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch at a slight
angle. Then I sit the brocolli in a container of water (check to make sure
it is stable!) and put it at the back of the top shelf of the fridge. It
keeps very nicely this way. If for some reason I do not use it that evening
or the next day, I add more water as needed.
I am not sure where I came across this idea or even if I came up with it
myself (think flowers), but I have been doing it for years. Now I never
have the problem of brocolli going soft and wilting.

thank you so much!

Sunday, October 23rd, 2005

Hi,
thank you so much for your help re: psorasis, Atkins and adrenals–have had
this stuff for 33 years and this is the worse it’s ever been–will get on to
the advice and books you mentioned and will keep keeping on–I guess 29 1/2
pounds of fat is going to throw off a lot of toxins all by itself–was
beginning to feel like one of those little guys in a computer game that gets
zapped no matter which way they run! Finding the BTD was such a HUGE break
through for me, just expected it to be the WHOLE solution–maybe this
website is…’cause as I peel back each layer of the onion there has always
been someone to help me get through it so I’m just saying I’m really
grateful to all of you.

<<Thanks for the head’s up on “HB” and on the nut butter! For that, I
promise to buy your books!!! I’m sure I’ve seen almond butter as well as
walnut butter at the local health food grocer. Yipeee!
If you want another HB treat, try pumpkin seed butter. It’s hard to find,
but absolutely incredible!

Sausage

Friday, October 21st, 2005

I found a great sausage that I’d rave about & share with you,
esp. Sarah Murray.
The ingredients are Turkey, Chicken, Sun-dried Tomatoes,
Salt, Spices (unfortunately unknown), Garlic, Basil,
Sodium Nitrate (?).
Well, I think it’s better than Pork sausage.
The brand is Chef Bruce AIDELLS.
Gaye
p.s. It is speecy-spicy.

Problem with my cod recipe

Friday, October 21st, 2005

Hi,
I uploaded a cod fish recipe to the Files section. Everything seemed
to look okay, so I finished uploading it. The last paragraph turns
out to be one of those long sentences that makes the reader scroll to
the right to see it all. It’s not how it looks before uploading and I
can’t seem to get it corrected. Each line is pretty short.
Maybe the Files section doesn’t like fish!
Anyhow, if anyone can help, I’d sure appreciate it. This has me
stumped.
