Hot drinks?
Can you folks share what hot drinks you enjoy the best? I’ve been
pretty much been relying on Celestial Seasonings Black Cherry tea
since I gave up the coffee. I got some soy milk but hesitate to fix
hot chocolate. I like herbal teas. But with all the combinations, I
don’t want to make mistakes and neutralize the benefits I’ve been
feeling.
I saw the sasparilla posting and will look for some tea at the store
next time I shop. But right now, I’m just so sick of the cherry tea -
even though I love cherries. (And cherry season is right around the
corner. Yay!!!)

Coffee-like drinks:
Raja’s Cup (the drip kind you make in the coffee maker, not the tea bags)
roasted dandelion root tea
Other herbal teas:
Pompadour rose hips and hibiscus
any berry-type tea with ginger root tea mixed in for extra zing
rooibos tea (red tea - yes it’s without caffeine)
And, of course, green tea

I cook chicken and beef in a slow cooker. The broth from this is real
good, especially in cooler weather.
I drink warm water first thing in the morning. It’s good for the
liver, and seems to stimulate the bowels.
It’s always best to drink warm or hot liquids - never cold fluids or
cold foods. Keep the tummy nice and warm to maximize digestion.
Cold stuff tends to have a numbing effect on the system.

Yogi Tea brand Green Tea and Ginger Tea. Yogi is “organic” and very
tasty. I haven’t tried their other flavors. I switched from Celestial
Seasonings when I found it wasn’t “organic”.

Thanks to everyone who responded to my hot drinks query. I appreciate
all your good information and tips. Actually, I’ve been down with a
very nasty cold since last Sunday. I was able to use some of the
ideas I learned in the list.
Today, I told my physician about this diet and that so far I’ve lost
12 pounds, feel very calm and have no cravings or heartburn. He was
totally supportive. I thought that I must be hallucinating all his
nodding and agreement. He’s keeping a watch over my blood pressure
which is also coming down. It’s nice having a doc who is more of a
partner.
