keeping brocolli
I love brocolli. Here is what I do with it until I am ready to use it:
I trim the ends of the stems/stalks about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch at a slight
angle. Then I sit the brocolli in a container of water (check to make sure
it is stable!) and put it at the back of the top shelf of the fridge. It
keeps very nicely this way. If for some reason I do not use it that evening
or the next day, I add more water as needed.
I am not sure where I came across this idea or even if I came up with it
myself (think flowers), but I have been doing it for years. Now I never
have the problem of brocolli going soft and wilting.

Oh, Sarah, great idea! Cilantro is sold in such large bunches in my market
Lynda
that I can never use it quickly enough, much as I love it.
I think I’ll try it with parsley as well
learned it a couple of years ago when I was in the grocery store and the
lady taking care of the produce was trimming the ends and filling the tray
they went into with water. I just hadn’t thought of applying it to broccoli.
