Steak Salad
I wanted to share this yummy dish with any of you that are looking for something
new! My sister passed it onto me knowing I eat a lot beef. It’s a traditional
german dish apparently but it uses “Maggi”. For those of you who know what
Maggi is, you’ll note that it’s probably an avoid but I think it could be
substituted easily so I’m working on that but I did have it the traditional way
and it was very good!
Steak Salad
1/4 cup Maggi (or substitute)
1/2 cup water
1 tbsp of crushed chili peppers
2 tbsps of lemon juice
steak - cut into thin strips
1/2 onion
lettuce (your choice) - cut into strips
Rice
Mix Maggi (or subsitute), water, lemon juice and peppers. Let steak marinate in
it for about an 20 mins (or however long you like). I also put my onions in the
marinade. Prepare your lettuce and your rice. Cook you steak and onions in
frying pan along with marinade. Rice goes on plate first, then lettuce and add
your steak and onions atop! Yum yum!

for something new!
This sounds like a nice variation on the traditonal “South of the
Border” salad that’s served in a corn taco bowl. I have some left
over Basmati rice in the fridge and some steak in the freezer. We’ll
try this recipe for tomorrow’s supper. Thanks a “munch”! -Eleny

Amanda. Maggi is just soysauce, so a non wheat substitute would work on this.

So, what is it? Like head cheese or something? The rest sounds good.

Love your recipe, Amanda.
I think I will try it with my flank steak for a great change.
Most times, I just use good old GARLIC POWDER and nothing else.
Yet, I almost always saute sliced onions for my steak.
Love red peppers when I have them on-hand, too.
As much beef we eat here, I always have leftovers & cut thin slices
for my salad.
And yes, it’s better to use Bragg’s Amino Acid -or- Tamari soysauce
since they both do not contain any avoids for O’s.
