This is an unbelievably awesome article that appeared in the New York

Power Steer

Garden City, Kan., missed out on the suburban building boom of the
postwar years. What it got instead were sprawling subdivisions of
cattle. These feedlots — the nation’s first — began rising on the high
plains of western Kansas in the 50’s, and by now developments catering
to cows are far more common here than developments catering to people.
You’ll be speeding down one of Finney County’s ramrod roads when the
empty, dun-colored prairie suddenly turns black and geometric, an urban
grid of steel-fenced rectangles as far as the eye can see — which in
Kansas is really far. I say ‘’suddenly,” but in fact a swiftly

This article is very scary. I heard the author on the radio. He has
raised a calf from birth and taken it to the slaughterhouse himself to
fully experience the process. He is a botanist with some very
interesting ideas. Let me know what ya’ll think.

The science might still be sketchy, but common sense tells me organic is
better food — better, anyway, than the kind grown with
organophosphates, with antibiotics and growth hormones, with cadmium and
lead and arsenic (the E.P.A. permits the use of toxic waste in

For those not already in the know, I wanted to announce that Dr.
D’Adamo’s next book, ‘Eat Right 4 Your Baby,’ is nearing the completion
stages. He will be finished with it by May 5th. I would assume that
they might have it published by the end of the year. (I hope!) I’M SO
EXCITED!!!
Cheers,

Just a tip I think some of you might find helpful. I accidentally discovered
that nut butter (any) makes for an excellent gravy thickener instead of gravy
powder (which almost always contain wheat). It gives a great nutty flavour, but
not overpowering.
I will put a recipe for my handy sauce in the database soon. It won’t have
measurements though - I am not good with that. I prefer cooking measuring with
my ‘hands and eyes’ if you know what I mean.
Love you all
