Eventually the book is available in South Africa. Expensive suddenly got a new
meaning. Anyway, I think there was mention of a typo or two some time back.
Could somebody confirm details if I am right please?

HB “challenge” -stocking up on REAL FOOD!

Wednesday, September 21st, 2005

I’m sorry, I have neglected to write about my own HB challenge days diet. Well,
if you guys don’t mind… I have been so busy with reading all the tons and tons
of mail, from this group and some from a few others. But I must say, the small
talk e-mail posting to the entire O group has gotten excessive… it is tiring,
going through so much mail. Can’t we just recognize when we are writing a
personal post and just be responsible and send it to that one person?
I forgot to mention, in celebration of the 3-week HB “challenge” I have gotten
two leg of lamb roasts; it has some fat on the exterior, a nice large lamb bone
in the middle… succulent red beast flesh. I like that word… succulent. My
body wants to suck all the nutrients from the succulent flesh. Slup!
So I’ve sprinkled the papain tenderizer (salt, sugar, papain) and let thaw at
room temperature for a few hours, a night in the fridge and then tonight I
pounded out an improv rosemary/thyme/garlic/salt rub… coats the surface,
preventing oxidation from exposure to gases (air) and will help flavor the outer
meat. I like my mortar and pestle, nothing compares to pounded and mashed garlic

[ER4YT-O] Portion Control—Are you Nuts?

Wednesday, September 21st, 2005

<<Portion control and nuts (and fat in general really) aren’t the problem
for Type O’s trying to lose weight. Carbs are much more of a problem.
Although this is very, very true, when you’re a non-secretor reducing your
intake of fats will also assist weight loss. Yet one more reason to find
out your secretor status.

portion size/nuts for snacks

Tuesday, September 20th, 2005

I think it is a mistake to be hung up on portion size. I eat until I am no
longer hungry. If you stop eating while you are still hungry, then you will
just set yourself up to succumb to avoids later on, like cookies, because you
will be starving and depleted, especially with your regular workouts, you are
making heavy demands on your body.
If you are concerned about portion size, just be sure you are eating HB. I find
I can eat any amount of HB. I will eventually be full, and it sticks with me
for hours.
On nuts for snacks, have you checked the list? Only a few nuts are HB or
neutral. They do have a high fat content, and not the kind of fat that is O
recommended, so it will add weight. I see you are very active and fit, so if
you eat the right nuts in moderation, it should not be a problem, you probably
will not gain weight. Now if you are trying currently to be leaner and firmer,
then I would suggest instead of nuts, that you open a can of tuna, or eat hard
boiled aggs, some other quick “snack on the run” that is at least HB or at least

Portion Control

Sunday, September 18th, 2005

I know the book offers some advice with regard to portion control and
those who want weight loss. How important is portion, expecially
when it come to meat sizes and foods such as nuts, seeds and nut
butters. For the past (4) days I have been on this diet, I have been
eating about 5-8oz of meat per entree and sometimes, at snacks, I
consume a lot of walnuts or pumpkin seeds. However, I do workout
hard 7x per week, 1-2x per day. Weekday mornings I do about 30-60
minutes of cardio, 40 minutes of weight training. Then, 3x per week
I go back in the evenings to teach cycling (spinning). I also teach
cycling classes Sat & Sun. My biggest concern is my total fat intake
for the day has sky rocketed and being that my genes allow me to gain
weight easily (as has been my history before losing 45 pounds and
killing myself these past (3) years simply trying to maintain on a
low-fat, high card, moderate protein diet, I want this to work. What
are some simple guidelines as your folks advice to make this work so

Hello! =)

Sunday, September 18th, 2005

Hello. I’m very glad to have found this place. I’m new to the ER4YT
thang. My sister and her hubby have been doing it for nearly a year
and they both swear by it enough that she actually recommended it to
me. They got tired of us putting off trying it and drove all the way
from West Virginia last month to prove it worked to us. LOL (I think
she just wanted to go to New Orleans for Mardis Gras and that was her
best way to pass through! HAHA j/k)
Anyhow, I have some very harsh medical problems and she knows that I
hate taking medicine (even aspirine is a big deal to me) but the past
few years I’ve been getting so bad that I nearly died from Nephratic
Syndrome (Kidney failure) a few times due to my diabetis and cronic
bladder infections…. ALL food related problems. My sister had
always come to me for medical type advise (because I studied
medicine) and it was disturbing to know that I couldn’t find a way to
fix myself this time. She tried many diets and never had anything to

[ER4YT-O… Got milk?

Well. Max, you worked for a good farmer there.
We had a couple of dairy farmers up the road and they called their cows
“sonsabitches”. They sold out ,fortunately, to the government some time ago.
