Full Tummies -eat fat & lose fat!
Axel, you bring up some very excellent points. After years of buying
into the vegan low fat is better diet - I have been retraining myself
that fat is good. Fat is my friend! Most recently, I have been
cheating with wheat and coffee (off and on since Christmas). I will
have a week of compliance and then I fall off and I am bad for a
couple of weeks. I have been struggling with the reasons for this
and mostly they are related to stress. I have not gained back any of
the weight I initially lost but I have also not lost any more weight.
And, YES, Axel, I am still fat, at least I think so. I have never in
my life had a weight problem until shortly after I became a
vegetarian. Over the 8 years of vegetarianism I crept up 50 pounds
over my “normal” natural weight. I have lost 30 of those pounds and
I would really like to lose 20 more. At this point in time I am
happy with myself and if I never lose another pound it would be OK as
I feel fabulous (when I don’t eat the evil wheat). However I know
that what I call my “normal” weight is where I feel the best - I
can “pinch an inch” or so on my tummy right now and I would prefer
not to. I have been compliant all this week and I feel my body
revving up to burn more fat and get back into “super burner” mode.
I have been trying to incorporate more fat into my diet. After so
many years of not eating fat, it is a weird texture to get used to.
I eat at least 3 tablespoons of olive or flax oil per day in addition
to the fat in the meat that I eat.
Thanks for your message - I found it really helpful and interesting.
I will try to listen more to my body and realize that it is not
really hunger as much as most likely excessive acid production.
Probably normal acid production that has been surpressed by the
overdoses of wheat, corn and potatoes that I consumed for 8 years.
Thanks to all of you,
Colleen

I love it! Use butter, ghee or olive oil when cooking, or meat
drippings (great for sauteing greens). I especially love the crackly
little fat on steaks and lamb chops. Yum! Slurp!

Oh yeah, for some of you newbies to the list, I was veggie for 22+
years and just started eating beef last fall. And I must say I do
love it. It’s still kind of weird to me how much I like it.
