Spelt Bread

I experimented with several spelt recipes. The very best, i.e., tastes so
much like ‘real bread’ that when I took it to a party no one noticed, is the
one in the CR4YT cookbook.
SPELT BREAD FOR BREAD MACHINE
1 1/2 cups water
1 1/3 tsp yeast
2 Tbs powdered soy milk (I use powdered rice milk)
2 Tbs canola oil (can use light olive oil if you prefer)
2 tsp turbinado sugar
1 1/2 tsp salt
2 1/4 cups whole-grain spelt flour
2 cups white spelt flour
Measure all ingredients in the order listed into bread machine’s baking pan.
Select basic bread setting and bake. Makes 1 (2 lb) loaf but fit fine in my
1 1/2 lb bread machine. Also works halved and set on 1 lb setting.

I added it to the files, also.
Think I’ll go start a loaf!

    Sarah,
I use a recipe from a bread machine book and just substitute spelt for the
wheat. Turns out great every time.

This is a Spelt Bread Recipe that I use:
Spelt Yeast Bread For Bread Machine
    3-1/4 cups whole spelt flour
1 pkg active dry yeast (4g pkg I think)
    1 cup water (75-85 degrees)
    1/3 cup honey
    1/4 cup butter
    1 teaspoon sea salt
    1 egg
I put the water in, then the flour, then I make a “well” in the flour and put
the yeast in the well so that it doesn’t touch the water. Then I put all the
other ingredients on top of that and run it on the “basic” setting. Turns out
perfect and delicious every time! I used to put flaxseeds in it until I found
out that you aren’t supposed to heat them. Now I toss them onto my eggs in the
    morning.

PS. If you need the non-machine version, let me know.
