Calories; also sugar sensitivity and some ZON

Hi Amy,
Don’t give up!!!!!!!! Hang in there. You will find what works for YOU if
you keep trying. I’ve been trying for 13 years and feel like I’ve just now
come across it!
(Disclaimer: I know that we are discussing ER4YT on this list, but I have
found these 2 ‘other’ books really helpful to me in addition to Dr.
D’adamo’s work. Hope nobody is put off by my including them here on our O
list.)
I haven’t posted for a little while, but have been on ER4YT since summer
1999. I have had TONS of digestive relief and felt better in many ways.
BUT, still wasn’t feeling my best and still had that last five pounds of fat
to lose. A friend told me about being sugar sensitive and it sounded like
it might fit. I got the book “Potatoes Not Prozac” from the library and it
seemed to describe me pretty well. So… I have been layering those
principles of keeping a food journal where I keep track of what I eat (not

counting calories, just general amounts like about 3oz. roasted chicken
breast instead of just chicken which could include a whole fried chicken
LOL) to see if any patterns emerge re: what makes me feel good and what
doesn’t. Then, I make sure I am eating a breakfast with protein, and
actually protein at every meal, but breakfast is the one that’s sometimes
hardest for us. We Os especially need protein and I found that I was eating
WAY too many carbs even though they were HB or neutral. (I’ve cut out
avoids awhile ago.)
I have further “fine-tuned” my protein/carb/fat ratios to be roughly the
ZONE proportions (also got the book “Mastering the Zone” from the library).
FOR ME (secretor, O+, female, Euro-decent (Norwegian/German), etc. etc.)
this combo of ER4YT, No sugars or caffeine (you get to that later in the
Potatoes Not Prozac program — if you ARE sugar sensitive, it’s not
recommended to go cold turkey off that stuff, they are DRUGS :~ ) and the
ZONE. I use the ER4YT Secretor food lists, no sugars or caffeine (and
keeping track of my meals so I can go back and see what works for me and
what doesn’t) and in the ZONE protein/carb/fat ratios.
I am sooooo glad that I came across ER4YT first. I am sure that I wouldn’t
have had the success I am if I had only followed Potatoes Not Prozac (lots
of avoids for Os). I am also sure that I wouldn’t have had this success if
I had only followed the Zone (too many sugars allowed for me being sugar
sensitive and too many avoids for Os). But with the combo (and actually I
should include Macrobiotic and Ayurveda too with whole, Organic foods, but
we know a lot of that just from ER4YT), I FEEL GREAT most all the time now.
LOTS more energy, no more depression, confusion, tiredness all the time even
with 8-9 hours of sleep. I usually only need about 6-7 hours of sleep now
and there’s no way that would’ve been even close before.
I don’t know if you (or anyone else out there in this wonderful O-land LOL)
is sugar sensitive, but I would encourage you to give a look at the book
(PnP) if you think that might be the case. It’s been a Godsend for me.
Thanks & HTH

P.S. I really appreciate EVERYONE on this list! It’s so great to see
everyone that has “come over” from the other list here!!!
lose weight eating anything, bread, milk, pasta, etc. I’ve done it before!!!
I thought there were lots of people out there who have lost tons of weight
just eating HB and neutrals and not really paying attention to how
much….???? Why not me?!!!!!!!!!!! ARRRRGGGHHHHH!!!!! I’m really close to

P.S. I am REALLY sorry about sending the whole digest before. I didn’t know
I hit that wrong a key LOL. I even get digest form so I know how annoying
    that is.

Thank you for your post..Lynn…I got a lot out of it
and will check and see if I can get those books at the
library. If I find them as useful as you did I will
purchase them. I use the library a lot!! Sounds very
helpful though. Potatoes not Prozac and Mastering the
Zone. Thanks again. BTW, I don’t think anyone will
be put off by your suggestions…this group seems to

    enjoy various ideas.
